Location: Onsite in our Boulder, CO office location
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Join Us to Lead the Energy Transition

Ascend Analytics is on a mission to accelerate the transition to a clean, reliable, and data-optimized energy future. We’re looking for an exceptional President & Chief Operating Officer (COO) to help us scale that mission to its full potential. If you're a seasoned operator who thrives at the intersection of purpose and performance—and you’re energized by the opportunity to help shape the future of a category-defining enterprise SaaS company—this is your moment.

As President & COO, you will be the architect and driver of operational excellence across the organization. You’ll transform strategic vision into executable plans, unify teams around bold goals, and ensure the entire company runs with clarity, purpose, and precision. You’ll be stepping into a pivotal role at a high-growth, high-impact company—where your leadership will shape industries, influence markets, and accelerate real-world progress toward a decarbonized grid.

What You’ll Do

Lead the Operational Engine

  • Take command of company operations—overseeing product delivery, customer experience, revenue operations, and internal systems.
  • Build and scale repeatable, data-driven processes that support sustainable growth and performance.
  • Align every team behind clearly defined KPIs and operational plans that map directly to company objectives.
  • Partner with the CEO to turn vision into action—and results.

Drive Revenue & Market Impact

  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, Product, and Customer Success to create a seamless, high-performing customer journey.
  • Strengthen the go-to-market engine with insights, systems, and accountability that drive acquisition, retention, and expansion.
  • Ensure operational readiness as we scale into new markets, sectors, and product offerings.

Build a Culture That Scales

  • Foster a culture of excellence, ownership, and agility—where performance and purpose go hand in hand.
  • Attract, mentor, and empower top-tier talent; build an organizational structure that grows with the business.
  • Bring clarity and focus during moments of rapid change or ambiguity—leading with empathy, confidence, and vision.

Be a Strategic Financial Partner

  • Co-own financial performance, planning, and forecasting with the CEO and CFO.
  • Optimize capital allocation and resource deployment to balance growth and efficiency.
  • Provide rigorous operational insight and accountability to board members and investors.

Lead Through Transformation & Scale

  • Deploy systems, infrastructure, and processes that turn complexity into clarity and chaos into consistency.
  • Drive major initiatives, including new product rollouts, geographic expansion, and post-M&A integration.
  • Create the operational runway that allows innovation to thrive without losing control or cohesion.

What You Bring

  • 15+ years of experience of either electric power industry experience or B2B SaaS or enterprise technology, including 5+ years in executive leadership roles scaling organizations.
  • Proven executive leadership in the power industry addressing critical decision analytics for utilities, power producers, or large consumers of electricity.
  • Strong command of SaaS economics and operational frameworks (CAC, CLTV, churn, payback, gross margin, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams with decisiveness, authenticity, and inspiration.
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves, dive into the details, and solve problems hands-on when necessary.
  • Experience implementing tools and systems (CRM, ERP, analytics) that provide visibility and fuel decision-making.
  • Experience driving change and improving company culture

Preferred, But Not Required

  • Passion for clean energy, climate tech, or the energy transition—especially if you've operated in mission-driven or technical sectors.
  • Proven success scaling SaaS based analytic companies—and ideally through key inflection points such as exit, M&A, or IPO.
  • Experience working in private equity-backed businesses and engaging directly with investors.
  • M&A leadership experience—both on the evaluation side and in executing smooth, value-creating integrations.
  • Familiarity with scaling complex operations across multiple products, customer types, or geographic regions.

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
