The role will own the APP product vision and roadmap, support business development efforts with utilities and corporate customers, and lead the delivery of procurement engagements enabled by APP and PowerSIMM™. This role requires close collaboration with software engineering, product management, PowerSIMM analysts, and client-facing teams to ensure seamless integration between technology, analytics, and services.

Key Responsibilities

Platform Growth & Commercial Support

  • Lead the growth of Ascend Power Procurement (APP) by supporting the business development team in securing new projects, with a primary focus on utilities and corporate energy buyers
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert for APP in client discussions, proposals, and product demonstrations, articulating the platform’s value proposition and differentiators
  • Partner with sales and account teams to shape commercial strategies for SaaS subscriptions and services-enabled procurement offerings
  • Drive alignment between platform capabilities and analytical methodologies used in PowerSIMM™-based evaluations

Product Strategy & Roadmap Ownership

  • Own and lead the APP product roadmap, translating business, client, and market needs into a clear, prioritized development plan
  • Continuously assess how APP must evolve to support new procurement structures, regulatory requirements, and customer use cases
  • Balance short-term commercial needs with long-term platform scalability and product vision

Engineering & Product Execution

  • Coordinate closely with software engineering teams to define technical requirements, functional specifications, and acceptance criteria for new APP features
  • Act as a bridge between commercial users, analysts, and engineers to ensure requirements are clearly defined and technically feasible
  • Support product management and participate in quality assurance (QA) efforts to validate new functionality prior to release

Client Implementation & SaaS Delivery

  • Support the client implementation phase for APP Software-as-a-Service contracts, ensuring smooth onboarding, configuration, and adoption
  • Partner with internal teams to establish best practices for client enablement, training, and ongoing platform support
  • Act as an escalation point for complex client or implementation issues related to procurement workflows

Procurement Project Delivery & Team Leadership

  • Lead the delivery of power procurement projects for services clients utilizing APP, ensuring high-quality, timely, and defensible outcomes
  • Manage and guide teams of PowerSIMM™ analysts responsible for economic modeling, bid evaluation, and portfolio analysis
  • Ensure analytical rigor, transparency, and consistency across all procurement engagements supported by APP

Key Qualifications

Required

  • 6+ years of experience in power procurement, power markets, resource planning, or energy analytics
  • Direct experience with utility or corporate power procurement processes, including RFP/RFO design, bid evaluation, and contract execution
  • Strong working knowledge of power market economics and valuation methodologies
  • Proven experience managing and developing teams, including analysts or cross-functional project teams
  • Demonstrated experience owning or leading a SaaS product roadmap, including defining requirements, prioritizing development, and coordinating with engineering teams
  • Excellent communication and executive presence, with the ability to engage senior client stakeholders and internal leadership
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or a related field

Preferred

  • Advanced degree (MBA, MS, or equivalent) in a related field
  • Experience on the consulting or advisory side supporting utility or corporate procurement engagements
  • Hands-on experience with stochastic modeling platforms such as PowerSIMM™ or Plexos
  • Background in technology-enabled services in the energy sector
  • Familiarity with evolving procurement structures, including renewable energy, storage, and hybrid resources
  • Experience supporting business development efforts, including proposals, pricing, and client presentations

Key Success Metrics

  • Successful APP platform growth, including new SaaS contracts and expanded client adoption
  • On-time, high-quality delivery of power procurement engagements for services clients
  • APP product roadmap delivery, including on-time feature releases and client-validated improvements
  • Client satisfaction and retention across SaaS and services-enabled procurement engagements

Why Ascend?

  • Opportunity to lead a high-impact product at the forefront of the energy transition and power procurement innovation
  • Direct exposure to executive leadership, key utility and corporate clients, and a rapidly scaling SaaS business

Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Form CC-305

OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
