The Role: 

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Data Engineer to join our growing real estate data and analytics team. In this role, you will be a key driver of our strategic migration from Databricks to Snowflake, building the scalable, cloud-native data infrastructure that powers property analytics, market intelligence, and business reporting.

The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on experience with Snowflake, Azure cloud services, PySpark, Python, and SQL, combined with a genuine understanding of real estate data — from property records and transaction data. You will work cross-functionally with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to ensure our data platforms are reliable, performant, and trusted across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Snowflake 4+ years of hands-on experience with
  • Snowflake: expertise in data modeling, performance tuning, Snowpark, tasks, streams, and dynamic tables
  • Databricks / PySpark: 2+ years working with Apache Spark for large-scale data processing
  • Python: 4+ years building production-grade data engineering solutions
  • SQL: strong proficiency in complex querying, performance tuning, and data warehouse design
  • FastAPI: 2+ years building and deploying RESTful APIs with FastAPI or similar Python frameworks (Flask, Django REST); experience with async patterns, authentication, and API versioning
  • React: 2+ year working knowledge of React for building internal data tools, dashboards, comfort with hooks, state management, and consuming REST APIs
  • Azure Cloud: hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage, and Azure Synapse
  • Real Estate Domain: understanding of real estate data structures, MLS systems, property data, and related workflows
  • Solid understanding of ETL/ELT processes, data modeling methodologies (Kimball, Data Vault), and performance tuning
  • Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipeline automation
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on complex, ambiguous migration, and modernization projects

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Delta Lake, including migration patterns from Delta to Snowflake
  • Knowledge of dbt (data build tool) for transformation workflows
  • Familiarity with real estate data providers such as CoStar, ATTOM, CoreLogic, or Zillow APIs

The Pay

Salary range is $120,000-$130,000 with a discretionary bonus of up to 20% per year

The Work Environment

  • This role works on-site from Ascent's Encino offices 2-3 days/week and remotely from southern California otherwise.
  • Full-time, 40 hours per week; must be available for occasional overtime.
  • Some nights and weekends required.
