The Role

This is a full-time, on-site position based in our Encino office. The Loan Servicing Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of loan payments, managing escrow accounts, monitoring loan performance, and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies. The Loan Servicing Specialist acts as a key point of contact for borrowers, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and maintaining strong client relationships to enhance the overall customer experience. The Loan Servicing Specialist contributes to the risk management strategy by identifying potential issues early and recommending appropriate actions. This role is essential for ensuring the smooth operation of loan servicing processes and supporting the Ascent’s commitment to excellence in the commercial real estate industry.

 

The Work

  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of loan payments and payoff statements, escrow disbursements, and account reconciliations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for borrowers, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with loan agreements, regulatory requirements, and internal policies. Prepare and maintain accurate loan documentation and servicing records.
  • Monitor loan performance, identify potential risks, and recommend appropriate actions to mitigate losses. Assist in the preparation of loan modifications, extensions, and workouts as needed.
  • Prepare detailed reports on loan portfolio performance, including delinquency trends, payment histories, and other key metrics. Provide insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance loan servicing processes and implement best practices to improve efficiency and client satisfaction.
  • Update documentation on our servicing platform to ensure timely and accurate records.
  • Monitor vendor service levels, responsiveness, and overall performance.
  • Process subordinations, lien releases, and payments.
  • Assist with escrow disbursements and prepare loan payoff statements for customers.
  • Monitor insurance coverage on collateral properties.
  • Enter and update client information in Ascent’s system(s) of record.
  • Recommend and implement best practices as part of Ascent’s dedication to creating an industry-leading customer experience.

 

Your Skills and Experience

  • Associate degree in business or finance, or equivalent work experience in financial services.
  • 5+ years of experience in loan servicing, with a focus on commercial real estate lending.
  • Strong understanding of operational risk, loan processing workflows, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Proficiency in financial software tools, including standard Loan Origination Systems (LOS) and servicing platforms.

 

The Pay

The hourly rate will be $31.00 - $36.00 per hour plus overtime with a discretionary bonus of 15% per year.

 

The Work Environment

  • This role works on-site from Ascent's Encino office, Monday - Thursday (Fridays are work-from-home).
  • Full-time, 40 hours per week; must be available for occasional overtime.
  • Some nights and weekends required.
