Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic individual to lead our European Commercial Strategy practice from our London office. This position, as a Partner, Practice Lead, is crucial to our continued success and growth within the biopharmaceutical sector and our continued growth with European-based global biopharmaceutical organizations.  Our Commercial Strategy practice offers a range of solutions to our clients including franchise and asset strategy for development and inline products, go-to-market strategy, and portfolio, licensing and development strategy at a corporate/business unit/therapeutic area level. The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record of leadership in consulting, with extensive experience in managing a consulting practice or a service division and a deep understanding of the Pharmaceutical or Biotechnology industries. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Strategy:
    • Drive the strategic direction and growth of the Commercial Strategy practice area within Europe, aligning with Putnam Associates' overall business objectives.
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of consultants in Europe, principally within our London office, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
    • Participate as a leading voice in our global Commercial Strategy practice, formulating and implementing innovative strategies to enhance global and EU practice capabilities and deliver superior client outcomes.
  • Client Engagement:
    • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key clients, understanding their needs and providing strategic, high-impact solutions.
    • Play an active role in leading our teams in developing unique, integrative insights and translation of those insights into strategic guidance for our clients.
    • Oversee the end-to-end delivery of consulting projects, ensuring quality and consistency throughout and final recommendations that benefit from the wealth of experience our Partners and Principals posses.
  • Business Development:
    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, leveraging your industry knowledge and combining that with Putnam’s existing network of relationships, relationships within the broader Inizio network and your own network to drive growth.
    • Develop and execute core business development activities, including development of capability presentations, project proposals, and client negotiations.
    • Extend the awareness and perception of Putnam as a leading life science consulting firm through thought leadership activities including white papers, conference speaking roles, and other activities .
  • Industry Expertise:
    • Utilize your extensive experience in the biopharmaceutical industry:
      • To provide deep insights and guidance to clients.
      • Stay abreast of industry trends, challenges, and regulatory changes to ensure the practice remains at the forefront of the sector.
  • Operational Excellence:
    • Oversee practice operations, including budgeting, resource allocation, and project management.
    • Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and continue to position Putnam for success in a dynamic industry.
    • Provide an in-person leadership presence in our London office that operates in a hybrid model, with an minimum expectation of 2 days per week in-office.

Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • Proven experience as a Consulting Practice Partner, leveraging a strong background in the Pharmaceutical and Life Science industries to drive business generation and achieve revenue targets.
    • Demonstrated success in leading consulting teams, managing strategic projects, supporting client success, and growing consulting team capabilities.
    • Significant depth of experience in Commercial Strategy, including work in Portfolio/Franchise/Asset strategy.
    • Participation in industry thought leadership. 
    • A clear desire to build bespoke, evidence-based solutions for clients, with an innovation-oriented mindset. 
  • Skills:
    • Exceptional consulting organization leadership, people development, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of delivering strategic solutions to complex industry challenges.
    • Proficiency in business development, client management, and project delivery and oversight.
