HVAC Technician II

JOB SUMMARY:

Perform a variety of basic technical task related to the installation, service and repair of all refrigeration, air conditioning, and water-based equipment, as well as facilities maintenance activities with thorough troubleshooting and diagnosing ability.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Installing, maintaining, and repairing refrigeration, ventilation, air conditioning and mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Identifying maintenance risks on equipment.
  • Diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults for HVAC systems.
  • Cleaning, adjusting and repairing systems, and performing warranty services.
  • Performing emergency repairs promptly and efficiently, including afterhours.
  • Providing technical direction and on-the-job training.
  • Keeping daily logs and records of all maintenance functions.
  • Ensuring compliance with appliance standards and with Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Complying with service standards, work instructions and customers' requirements.
  • Assisting with customers' queries.
  • Following established safety rules, regulations, and maintaining a safe and clean environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least two (3) to five (8) years of experience in a combination of two or more skilled trades including knowledge of and ability to use tools materials and methods.
  • HVAC Technical School degree.
  • Valid Driver’s license.
  • PR Licensed Refrigeration Technician.
  • EPA Universal licensed.
  • Own power and hand tools.
  • Strong working knowledge of job site safety as well as ability to complete a company specific safety orientation (OSHA 30 HRS is a plus).
  • Bilingual, English and Spanish.

 

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

  • Eye for detail. An eye for detail is going to be an essential skill needed in carpentry.
  • Good math skills. Mathematical skills are an essential area that you will need to excel in.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics and control circuits.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This job operates indoors and outdoors on many types of buildings and construction projects.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Typically associated with this type of position including but not limited to:

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk up to 8 hours at a time.
  • Ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds on a routine basis.
  • Ability to work at heights.
  • Ability to use arms to reach above shoulder and below waist frequently.
  • Ability to use hands for simple grasping and fine manipulation frequently.
  • Ability to balance, bend, climb, crawl, and squat frequently.
  • Ability to be exposed to marked changes in humidity and temperature frequently.

  • Equipment Used: Step ladder, power and hand tools, thermometers, multimeters, refrigerant gauges, refrigerant scale, refrigerant vacuum pump, among other.

 

REPORTS TO:

  • Reports to the Service Supervisor.
