BOILER TECHNICIAN

JOB SUMMARY: Perform troubleshooting, routine maintenance and safety inspections on boilers and other equipment used to generate steam or power in a variety of locations. This position reports to Service Manager/Supervisor.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Troubleshooting and maintaining commercial steam and hot water boilers, boiler room operation and auxiliary equipment, including, but not limited to, boiler controls, water pumps, motors, bearings, valves, electronic controls, water and gas lines, piping, tanks, deaerators, etc.
• Observes and tests malfunctioning systems to determine cause and appropriate corrective action; reads blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals as applicable to new installations or assigned service/repair orders.
• For each service performed prepare detailed documentation (Service Job Report) for the purpose of providing written support in compliance with regulations and or conveying information to clients. 
• Functions independently as applicable to assigned work orders, or as part of a work crew engaged in more complex/difficult projects.
• Performs physically demanding tasks related to installation and repair of boiler and steam systems.
• Performs preventive maintenance tasks according to established schedules; monitors systems functioning for the purpose of recognizing potential problems; addresses such accordingly.
• Ensures compliance with and adherence to applicable codes, ordinances, building, and safety standards regarding heating and boiler systems installation, maintenance and repair activities.
• Performs cleaning and maintenance of equipment, tools, materials, and vehicles utilized; ensures adherence to principles and practices of safe equipment use and operation.
• Solid electrical troubleshooting skills with ability to read and understand electrical wiring diagrams
• Assist in installations and start-up of newly installed boilers and burners.
• Maintains and repairs controls for boilers and water heaters.
• Monitors and inspects projects and contract work to ensure compliance with manufacturer's agreements and with national, state and local code requirements.
• Respond to emergency calls during and after hours.
• Coordinate with supervisors the completion of services and repairs per established priorities.
• Coordinate work schedules with supervisor, client and dispatcher in order to keep inconvenience to a minimum.   
• Work with limited supervision.
• Must provide small tools such as (screw drivers, wrenches, meters) and any other small tool to provide boiler services.
• Accurately performs administrative tasks related to work order completion, service reports, purchase orders procedures, and real-time reporting
• Keeps vehicle clean, with proper maintenance, and reports problems for repairs.
• Knowledgeable in safety procedures and OSHA regulations.
• Works in a safe manner. Follows ASI’s safety program and industry standard safety practices in order to maintain ZERO accidents.
• Customer oriented
• Work with limited supervision

 REQUIREMENTS:  

• High school diploma
• Ability to lift 70lbs. on a routine basis
• Ability to work at heights
• Minimum of 5-10 years of previous experience
• Valid PR driver’s license
