Acquisition/FAR Overhaul Subject Matter Expert (SME)

ASI Government serves as a trusted adviser to government leaders seeking improved performance, enhanced organization effectiveness, and strategic change.
The Acquisition/FAR Overhaul SME provides deep subject matter expertise on the FAR overhaul and principles-based acquisition to inform the Experiential Learning Framework, cultural change strategy content, and updates to Strategic Acquisition Guidance (e.g., the FAR Companion and Category Management Buying Guide), ensuring all content reflects sound acquisition policy and current federal practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Subject Matter Expertise: Provide expert guidance on FAR overhaul policy, principles-based acquisition, and FAC competencies to inform framework and guidance development.
- Strategic Acquisition Guidance: Draft and update non-regulatory guidance documents (e.g., FAR Companion, Category Management Buying Guide) based on practitioner/stakeholder feedback and the established governance process.
- Framework Development: Support design of the Experiential Learning Framework, including identifying cultural barriers to adoption and recommending targeted interventions.
- Content Review: Review existing workforce readiness learning assets for alignment with the FAR overhaul and incorporate new Strategic Acquisition Guidance content.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with OFPP, FAI, and agency stakeholders to validate guidance and framework content.
Required:
- Bachelor's degree; 12+ years of federal acquisition/contracting experience, including direct exposure to FAR-based procurement.
- Deep knowledge of the FAR overhaul and principles-based acquisition concepts.
- Experience developing acquisition guidance, policy, or training content for federal audiences.
Preferred:
- FAC-C or DAWIA Level III certification (or equivalent).
- Experience with OFPP, FAI, or GSA acquisition policy initiatives.
- Advanced degree in public policy, business, or a related field.
