Data Operations Manager

The Role

The Data Operations Manager will work in an agile environment interacting with multiple technologies and business areas, designing and developing next generation big data and data insights platforms and related services. This person will lead a diverse team of machine learning engineers and analytics professionals to define strategy and explore solutions for clients in a platform-diverse environment. As a leader, you will excel at the team’s mission to provide high quality service and results while cultivating an environment that motivates engineers to perform and innovate to the best of their abilities.

What You’ll Do

  • Proactively manage continuous development of revenue tracking and bidding optimization systems
  • Foresee and architect a robust, reliable and scalable data pipeline, bringing maintainable cloud centric performant solutions
  • Ensure accuracy of data and work to identify/mitigate recurring issues
  • Collaborate with the data science team to build services that effectively use our data and insights
  • Translate business concepts to technical solutions that align with stakeholders’ needs
  • Help tune performance and scalability of big data applications while optimizing on cost
  • Manage and grow high performing engineering teams
  • Help create strategic roadmap surrounding the big data and analytics space
  • Research and evaluate new tools and technologies to solve complex business problems
  • Ensure applications and systems built/released are compliant with security and audit standards
  • Exhibit interest and tenacity in exploring key opportunities for next generation technologies and develop prototypes to demonstrate product ideas

What You Bring to Us

  • 11+ years of industry experience with a master’s degree in CS or equivalent with focus on cloud technologies, object-oriented or functional programming. 
  • 6+ years of experience managing technical teams, preferably around big data, data modeling, scalable services and data insights.
  • Strong engineering skills with a solid understanding of core computer science fundamentals, high performance data structures and algorithms, object-oriented concepts, Java and Python
  • Capable of building stable and scalable high-performance services
  • Experience designing and evaluating heuristics to deal with natural language, machine learning, and databases
  • Strong interest and tenacity for identifying problems and developing innovative solutions.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (GitLab, Jenkins) 
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate, diagram and document
  • Bonus points if you have experience with Kubernetes workflows, AWS, Spark, data modeling and machine learning

Salary & Benefits

The salary range for this position is $155,000 - $190,000 USD annually. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary range for this position. Actual salaries may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Ask Media Group’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards include annual bonuses, and short and long-term incentives.
