Bioprinting Co-op - September

Vancouver, BC (on-site)

We are looking for a proactive Bioprinting Co-op to be part of a multidisciplinary CMC team focused on development of 3D human tissues for in vitro drug testing or as life-changing, cell-based implantable tissue therapeutics. In this role, you will provide support for the design, manufacturing, and testing of 3D human tissues for pre-clinical use or as therapeutic devices by using and adapting Aspect’s microfluidic bioprinting technology. 

Please note: This role will close applications on July 13.   

Responsibilities 

  • Helping to develop and characterize bioprinting processes and tissue devices for therapeutic applications.
  • Assisting with the design, optimization, and testing of tubing for the development of closed systems for various applications. 
  • Preparing and processing biomaterials for bioprinting tissue development studies.
  • Performing morphometric, and shelf life tests to characterize new bioprinted tissue implants.
  • Assisting in the management of lab equipment and consumables to ensure smooth operation of manufacturing processes.
  • Supporting the in vitro development to characterize bioprinted tissue health and function, including ML training and bioink preparation. 
  • Developing study designs and writing experimental reports to be presented to key stakeholders.
  • Rigorously document all work, following Good Documentation Practices.

Education & Experience

  • Education: You are a student enrolled in biomedical engineering, cell biology or similar program. 
  • Development Experience: You have good physics or mechanical engineering experience with an interest in microfluidics and 3D printing. You are familiar with cell biology techniques and principles. 
  • Technical Skill Set: You have experience working in a wet lab environment carrying out 3D printing, documentation/report writing, and cell culture.
  • Problem Solver: Demonstrated ability to identify innovative working solutions to problems with challenging constraints.
  • Effective Communicator: You have superior written and verbal communication skills. You are an active listener who can communicate to different audiences in diverse situations.
  • Detail oriented: You have outstanding attention to detail, and experimental and process rigor. You take pride in your work and strive for excellence in the work you do.

The hiring range for this role is $3,750 - $4,000 CAD, monthly. Our ranges are based on market data. Offered salaries will be based on a combination of factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience. For candidates who exceed role requirements, we are open to exploring above-range offers.
