About the Role

AspenView is looking for a Data Developer to design, build, and maintain the data infrastructure that powers business applications, reporting, and analytics. This is a fully remote position reporting to the Head of Data Engineering.

You will take ownership of a Microsoft SQL Server environment end to end — developing and optimizing databases, building efficient ETL processes, and safeguarding data integrity across systems. Day to day, you will work alongside application developers, business analysts, and data scientists, translating business requirements into reliable data solutions that support data-driven applications and business intelligence initiatives. The role calls for deep, hands-on expertise in MS SQL, Python, SSIS, stored procedures, and modern data integration techniques.

What You Will Do

Database Development & Optimization

• Design, develop, and maintain complex SQL Server databases that support business applications and reporting systems.
• Write, optimize, and maintain stored procedures, triggers, and user-defined functions to ensure high performance and data integrity.
• Build efficient, scalable ETL processes using SSIS and Python to extract, transform, and load data from a range of sources.
• Monitor and troubleshoot database performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks to keep systems running optimally.
• Implement data partitioning, indexing strategies, and other techniques that improve database performance and scalability.

Data Integration & ETL

• Develop and maintain data integration workflows that enable a seamless flow of data between internal and external systems.
• Design and implement data pipelines to ingest, process, and store large volumes of structured and unstructured data.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and create ETL solutions that ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security.
• Ensure data is transformed and stored in a form suited to analysis, reporting, and business intelligence use cases.
• Maintain data integrity and enforce data governance policies across all databases and ETL processes.

Collaboration & Support

• Work closely with application developers, business analysts, and data scientists to understand data needs and deliver solutions that advance business goals.
• Provide technical support for database-related issues, collaborating across teams to resolve data integration and performance problems.
• Participate in code reviews and design discussions to keep best practices front and center in database design and development.
• Contribute to documentation of data architectures, processes, and procedures so that systems stay well documented and easy to maintain.

Continuous Improvement & Data Governance

• Stay current with developments in database technologies, particularly Microsoft SQL Server and related tooling, and recommend improvements where they add value.
• Proactively identify opportunities to optimize existing databases, ETL processes, and data workflows for greater efficiency, scalability, and reliability.
• Implement and maintain database security measures that protect sensitive data in line with applicable security policies.
• Support data governance initiatives by ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and security of all managed data.

• Hands-on experience designing and delivering data integration and ETL solutions in a production environment.
• Demonstrated success fostering positive collaboration across cross-functional teams with diverse personalities, skill sets, and levels of experience.

Technical Expertise

• Expertise in MS SQL, T-SQL, and SSIS.
• Expertise in Python for data processing and ETL development.
• Strong command of stored procedures, triggers, user-defined functions, indexing, and partitioning strategies.
• Proven ability to design ETL processes and data pipelines for structured and unstructured data at volume.
