About the team:

At Aspire, we understand the critical role that legal guidance plays in our business strategy and operations. Our Legal Team is at the forefront of driving licensing strategies, managing compliance risks, and providing sound legal advice to guide Aspire’s strategy. By providing sound legal rationale, our Legal team is vital in contributing to strategic decision-making processes, ensuring that our operations align with legal requirements and best practices. 

About the role:

We're looking to hire a talented and experienced Data Privacy Counsel to join our growing Legal team. 
You'll play a pivotal role in safeguarding user privacy and ensuring our company's compliance with all applicable data privacy regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice and guidance on all data privacy matters, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other relevant Singaporean and international laws.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive Data Privacy compliance program.
  • Review and revise our data privacy policies and procedures to ensure alignment with best practices and evolving regulations.
  • Review, revise and negotiate data processing agreements or data privacy provisions in commercial contracts. 
  • Manage data subject access requests (DSARs) and ensure timely responses.
  • Work collaboratively with various departments, including product, engineering, and marketing, to embed data privacy considerations into all aspects of the business.
  • Conduct regular data privacy audits and identify areas for improvement.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest data privacy developments and trends.
  • Provide data privacy training to employees to foster a culture of privacy awareness.
  • Manage external relationships with data protection authorities and other relevant stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of experience working on data privacy issues in a legal or compliance role.
  • Strong understanding of data privacy regulations, including  GDPR and relevant Singaporean laws.
  • Proven ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear and actionable guidance for non-legal teams.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • A passion for data privacy and a commitment to user trust.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous inhouse experience in a Global FinTech
  • A strong understanding of data security concepts.
  • Project management experience.
