ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Payment Operations Manager for the US, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the success and accuracy of all payment flows within Aspire’s platform in the United States. You will play a pivotal role in managing the operations and owning the KPIs of Aspire’s payment products in the region to drive exceptional performance and ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks in new markets.
In addition to managing day-to-day operations, you will have a critical role in supporting Aspire’s expansion into new countries. You will be instrumental in setting up and scaling treasury operations in this new market, ensuring that our infrastructure is robust and optimized for local requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Payment Operations Ownership (Regional Focus): Own end-to-end domestic payment operations for the US, including partner integration, SLA delivery, and cut-off adherence. Serve as the go-to SME for local payment rails (e.g., ACH, FedNow), ensuring accurate and timely payment execution.
- Service Availability and Payment Success: Monitor and improve payment success rates and incident resolution times. Lead real-time triage of processing issues across regional time zones
- Partner & Rail Specialist Integration: Collaborate directly with Aspire’s banking and PSP partners to manage change requests, incident escalations, and rulebook updates. Translate market-specific rules into operational processes and automation requirements.
- Corridor Expansion and Launches: Drive successful go-live of new domestic corridors or capabilities (FedNow) by coordinating with Product, Compliance, and Engineering. Act as the local process lead to ensure Aspire can transact on Day 1 without manual blockers.
- Reconciliation Ownership (in partnership): Oversee the setup of reconciliation processes for new regional rails in collaboration with the shared services Recon team. Monitor and escalate exceptions, and drive resolution in line with internal SLAs and safeguarding requirements.
- Operational Oversight & Quality: Champion regional ownership of payment SLAs, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement. Work with the QC & Training function to embed quality controls and upskill regional analysts.
- Regulatory Readiness: Partner with Compliance and Legal to ensure all operational processes meet local regulatory standards. Support the preparation and response to audits and regulatory inquiries specific to your market.
- Stakeholder Reporting: Deliver actionable reporting on payment performance, corridor-specific trends, and issue tracking to senior stakeholders. Inform Product and Compliance roadmaps with operational insights.
- Team Leadership: Operate within a team of regional and offshore payment analysts, ensuring effective 24/7 coverage, incident handovers, and operational rigor across all shifts.
Qualifications:
- Regional Payments Expertise: 8+ years’ direct experience with domestic payments in the US (ACH, FedNow, etc.) ideally with PSPs, banks, or high-growth fintechs.
- Corridor Operationalisation: Proven track record in launching and scaling domestic payment rails including cut-off management, settlement cycles, and exception handling.
- Real-Time Problem Solving: Experience leading operational incident response and payment failure triage with partner coordination.
- Strong Ops Design Thinking: Ability to define and optimise operational processes and controls tailored to regional nuances and partner integrations.
- Stakeholder Management: Comfort engaging with regional regulators, audit teams, and executive leadership on payment performance topics.
- Analytical Fluency: Proficiency in using data tools and dashboards to track success/FAIL rates, monitor trends, and define root causes.
- People Leadership: Experience working in matrix style teams across multiple time zones
