Position Summary

Assured Guaranty is seeking a database engineer to be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining modern database systems to ensure their optimal performance, security, governance, and reliability. They will work closely with other teams to understand data requirements and develop solutions that meet business needs.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain database solutions using MongoDB, Snowflake, and Confluent Kafka.
  • Design, implement, and maintain reporting platforms such as Tableau, Power BI, Sigma
  • Design, implement, and maintain data caching solutions such as Redis / ElastCache
  • Ensure high availability, performance, and security of database systems.
  • Monitor and optimize database performance, including query tuning and indexing.
  • Develop and maintain database backup and recovery procedures.Collaborate with development teams to design and implement data models and database schemas.
  • Manage database access and security, including user roles and permissions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues and provide technical support.
  • Implement and manage Business Continuity Planning (BCP) to ensure database systems are resilient and can recover from disruptions.
  • Oversee Change Management processes using ServiceNow to ensure smooth and controlled changes to database systems.
  • Manage CI/CD pipelines using Harness or other similar tools to automate database deployments and updates.
  • Stay up to date with the latest database technologies and best practices.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for database support.
  • Contribute to standards related to the adoption, implementation, and use of database technologies. This includes security, identity and access management, compliance, cost management, license management, performance management and monitoring.
  • Work closely with IT security to ensure the adoption of database resources aligns with the company’s security posture.

Candidate Background & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent is required
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in similar role
  • Practical work experience in IDLC processes such as Incident, Problem and Change Management.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with all stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Proven experience as a DBA with expertise in MongoDB, Snowflake, and Confluent Kafka.
  • Strong understanding of database design, architecture, and performance optimization.
  • Experience with database backup and recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).
  • Experience with cloud-based database solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts, ETL processes, data streaming.

Compensation

Annual base salary for the position is expected to be from $130,000 per year to $160,000 per year. The actual salary will depend on various factors, including but not limited to a candidate’s experience and credentials, salary expectations of applicable candidates, and other applicable market conditions. This position also provides applicable employee benefits, as well as eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus.
