Systems Data Analyst

Assyst is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Junior Business Systems & Data Analyst to support our client in driving business process improvements, system modernization initiatives, and data-driven decision-making. This role combines business analysis, data analytics, reporting, dashboard development, documentation, and application support responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, analyze business needs, develop functional specifications, and support system enhancement initiatives. The role also involves designing and maintaining interactive dashboards, performing data integration and transformation activities, supporting project documentation, assisting with testing efforts, and providing technical support for business applications and reporting environments.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Gather, analyze, and interpret data to identify business needs, requirements, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Conduct research and collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, functional requirements, and business objectives.
  • Develop functional specifications and business cases aligned with organizational and technology strategies.
  • Facilitate communication among stakeholders and project teams to support successful project execution and implementation.
  • Perform process modeling and develop prototypes to evaluate and improve business processes.
  • Recommend workflow enhancements, system improvements, and modernization opportunities to optimize operational efficiency.
  • Research emerging technologies, applications, and modernization tools to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support the adoption of new tools, technologies, and best practices across business and reporting environments.
  • Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and visual reports using Power BI or similar data visualization platforms.
  • Perform data extraction, cleansing, transformation, validation, and integration from multiple data sources.
  • Analyze complex datasets to identify patterns, trends, and actionable insights that support business decision-making.
  • Maintain and enhance automated reporting solutions to ensure timely and accurate delivery of information.
  • Monitor dashboard and reporting performance, address user feedback, and implement improvements to increase usability and reliability.
  • Diagnose and resolve basic software and application issues, escalating complex issues to senior technical staff when necessary.
  • Provide support for reporting environments, web-based systems, and business applications.
  • Assist with maintaining application content, automated reports, and system enhancements.
  • Support data integration initiatives utilizing platforms such as Informatica, Snowflake, and related technologies.
  • Communicate effectively with users to gather issue details and provide status updates.
  • Assist with testing system modifications, enhancements, and modernization initiatives.
  • Prepare test scenarios, execute validation activities, and document test results.
  • Participate in quality improvement efforts and document findings and recommendations.
  • Support software issue analysis and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Gather, organize, and maintain project-related information throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Document business requirements, objectives, deliverables, workflows, system processes, risks, issues, and mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure project documentation remains accurate, current, accessible, and aligned with organizational standards.
  • Maintain support records and tracking system data with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Serve as a technical resource and contribute to knowledge sharing, training, and process documentation efforts.

Required Skills:

  • Associate’s Degree, Bachelor’s Degree, or Technical Institute Degree/Certificate in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered.

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in IT support, computer systems, business analysis, data analysis, or related technical environments.
  • Experience working with data visualization tools such as Power BI or similar reporting platforms.
  • Experience analyzing, extracting, transforming, and interpreting complex datasets.
  • Basic understanding of applications, reporting environments, and relational database concepts.
  • Knowledge of SQL and the ability to create and execute simple queries.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Visual Studio, SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), and data visualization platforms.
  • Knowledge of data cleansing, transformation, integration, and data quality management practices.
  • Familiarity with business intelligence, reporting, and dashboard development methodologies.
  • Exposure to Informatica, Snowflake, or similar data integration platforms is preferred.
  • Understanding of software testing principles, test scenario creation, and result validation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the capability to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into practical, data-driven solutions.
  • Understanding of business analysis methodologies and process improvement techniques.
  • Ability to learn and support complex financial management and enterprise systems.
