Senior .NET Application Architect

ASSYST is seeking a Senior .NET Application Architect to lead the technical remediation and architecture of the Comptroller Automation Platform in Tallahassee, FL (Onsite)

The Senior .NET Application Architect will guide the modernization and alignment of over 1,500 computing assets interfaces, enterprise applications, databases, and reporting systems and lead legacy-to-modern architecture transitions, perform fit-gap analyses, ensure code quality via SonarQube, resolve security vulnerabilities, replace legacy UI frameworks (AngularJS/Kendo UI) with modern alternatives, and provide technical guidance across the agency’s .NET ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architectural Strategy & Design: Architect end-to-end .NET solutions, set design standards, define system patterns, and document Architecture Decision Records (ADRs).
  • System Modernization & Migration: Lead legacy-to-.NET migrations (e.g., JCL/COBOL/FOCUS), evaluate new tech stacks, and remediate technical debt without business disruption.
  • Financial Alignment: Perform fit-gap analyses, re-engineer incoming/outgoing interfaces, and align critical financial processes (payroll, journal vouchering)
  • Code Quality & Technical Governance: Enforce SOLID principles, review pull requests, and address security vulnerabilities using SonarQube.
  • UI & Frontend Refactoring: Modernize legacy UI frameworks by replacing AngularJS and Kendo UI with modern JavaScript libraries.
  • DevOps & Cloud Integration: Support CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions) and integrate Azure services (Key Vault, App Insights, Blob Storage).
  • Leadership & Knowledge Sharing: Mentor development teams, collaborate with lead developers on high-risk technical changes, and maintain technical documentation.

Qualifications & Skill Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 plus years in multiple IT domains.
  • 3 plus years of dedicated technical/solution architecture experience.
  • Advanced to expert-level knowledge in application systems design, integration patterns, and the Microsoft .NET ecosystem.

  • Key Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Technical KSAs
  • Domain-Driven Design (DDD), Clean Architecture, Event-Driven Architecture, RESTful API Design, and Integration Patterns.
  • SQL Server, Relational Database Design, Data Access Optimization, ERDs, Performance Tuning, Scalability, and Fault Tolerance.
  • Azure DevOps, Application Insights, Key Vault, Blob Storage, CI/CD Strategies, and Observability/Logging tooling.
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) frameworks, financial accounting processes, or state-level financial systems.
  • Applied working knowledge of the SCRUM framework.
  • Superior ability to translate complex technical concepts for business stakeholders and articulate business requirements to technical teams.
  • Analytical mindset capable of performing independent root-cause analysis and making sound, data-driven decisions.
  • Track record of mentoring team members, managing stakeholder expectations, building consensus, and adapting leadership styles to diverse project teams.
  • Adaptability to evolving state mandates and project constraints while maintaining a high standard of customer service to agency end-users.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
