Astera Labs Inc. is seeking a skilled and proactive Hardware Lab Intern to join our dynamic hardware team in developing world class connectivity products.
Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Hardware Lab Intern to join our team and gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced hardware development environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, a desire to learn, and the ability to manage various responsibilities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to work alongside skilled engineers and technicians, contributing to the building, testing, and validation of connectivity products used by the world’s leading cloud service providers, server and network OEMs
Key Responsibilities
· PCBA rework and soldering
· Assemble, inspect, and test modules/subassemblies to ensure quality
· Organize inventory of lab tools, equipment, peripherals, and consumables
· Assemble hardware setups, including server racks and related hardware systems
· Work closely with engineering team to perform basic electrical and functional testing on PCBAs and hardware components
· Document and revise lab procedures
· Collaborate with engineering teams on various hands-on tasks
Required Qualifications
· Presently enrolled in an electronics, electrical engineering, or similar educational program
· Ability to follow written and verbal procedures, working both independently and in a collaborative team environment
· Ability to clearly document and communicate measurement results
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
· Effective communication and problem-solving skills
· Eager to learn and contribute
Preferred Qualifications
· Associate’s degree or equivalent ongoing education/technical certification in electronics, electrical engineering, or similar field
· Completed coursework in circuit design, electronics, or hardware development
· Familiarity with basic PCBA test equipment (e.g. multimeters, power supplies, oscilloscopes)
· Hands-on experience with soldering or hardware assembly
· Ability to interpret electrical schematics sufficiently to perform solder rework
· Ability to lift and move up to 50lbs safely
