Product & Ecosystem Internship 

As a leader in semiconductor-based connectivity solutions for cloud and AI infrastructure, the Astera Labs Platform & Ecosystem team is responsible for keeping up with AI industry trends to provide guidance for product strategy and identify areas where we can help develop the ecosystem to accelerate product adoption. To support the mission, we build deep industry partnerships and strive to provide thought leadership for PCIe, CXL, and Ethernet solutions with data driven insights from market research, hardware validation, and test data gathered from key hardware and software components used in AI and cloud infrastructure.  

As an Astera Labs Product & Ecosystem Intern, you will work closely with Product Line Managers, Product and Field Application teams, engineering teams, and ecosystem partners to learn how connectivity solutions impact AI, web & database services. This is a highly analytical and technical role where time to insights is critical for driving conversations with customers, partners and industry defining organizations, such as OCP, PCI-SIG, and CXL Consortium. This entry-level role allows business-minded engineers to accelerate their career in AI infrastructure through interactions with industry veterans, and hands-on experience with real hardware supporting AI use cases. 

Responsibilities 

• Understand the performance of leading-edge hardware and software technologies to develop value propositions of Astera Labs’ products  

• Assist with COSMOS SW product development and testing 

• Setup lab infrastructure, servers, storage & memory systems, and software to measure and monitor performance bottlenecks for specific datacenter use cases 

• Work independently, demonstrating good judgment in performance engineering tasks, and contribute to the creative brainstorming of new ideas 

• Root cause performance and scalability issues, and provide recommendations to solve them 

• Analyze & present performance data and propose exploratory tests for deeper analysis 

• Assist in exploring new use cases to substantiate industry trends and support outbound product marketing 

• Develop presentations of proposals, results, and conclusions 

Basic Qualifications 

• Basic understanding for PCIe, CXL, or Ethernet connectivity solutions used in cloud and AI infrastructure 

• Ability to root cause performance bottlenecks with performance and monitoring tools 

• Solid understanding of server CPU, memory, network, and storage hardware as they relate to performance 

• Strong understanding of OS fundamentals (Linux)  

• Good understanding of benchmark creation, measurement and modeling of system behavior under load 

• Strong programming and scripting skills, including languages such as C/C++ and Python 

• Good understanding and experience handling lab equipment such as Oscilloscope, logic analyzers, power supplies
