About Astera Labs
Astera Labs builds connectivity solutions that help power modern AI infrastructure. Our operations and supply-chain teams make sure the materials, manufacturing capacity, test capacity, and deployment plans are ready to support product demand and program milestones.
The opportunity
Join the Capacity Planning team and help translate product forecasts and technical requirements into actionable capacity plans. You’ll work across product schedules, wafer and device forecasts, assembly and test requirements, supplier commitments, equipment availability, and deployment scenarios to identify constraints and recommend practical actions.
This role is designed for someone who enjoys combining data, operations, and cross-functional problem-solving. You’ll learn how capacity decisions are made in a fast-moving semiconductor environment and help teams balance demand, supply, timing, utilization, cost, and risk.
What you’ll do
-
Gather and organize new-project, product-schedule, forecast, technical, and test requirements needed for capacity planning.
-
Translate design-release dates, wafer-out timing, device characteristics, test requirements, demand forecasts, and need dates into capacity inputs and planning assumptions.
-
Build and maintain monthly, quarterly, and annual capacity forecasts for probe cards, testers, handlers, load boards, change kits, and other test or manufacturing resources.
-
Analyze demand versus allocation, committed supply, on-hand equipment, delivery dates, utilization, floor space, and deployment constraints.
-
Support capacity reviews with internal stakeholders, suppliers, contract manufacturers, OSATs, and test partners by preparing clear data, scenarios, open-request lists, and recommendations.
-
Evaluate capacity scenarios such as adding or reallocating testers, splitting capacity across sites, reserving equipment, shifting deployments, or adjusting demand and delivery assumptions.
-
Track equipment orders, commitments, deliveries, qualified systems, open requests, capacity buffers, and risks through project and supply-chain trackers.
-
Identify gaps between forecast demand and available capacity, quantify the impact of timing or supply changes, and escalate risks with proposed mitigation options.
-
Create and maintain planning forms, dashboards, reports, visualizations, and decision-ready summaries for capacity, allocation, procurement, and deployment discussions.
-
Validate data quality and reconcile information across forecasts, purchase orders, supplier inputs, device plans, engineering schedules, and operational trackers.
-
Collaborate with product engineering, NPI, manufacturing test, supply chain, procurement, finance, program management, and external partners to close planning gaps and keep assumptions current.
-
Document planning methods, definitions, decisions, assumptions, and follow-up actions so capacity plans remain understandable and repeatable.
-
Present analyses and recommendations to cross-functional stakeholders and leadership.
What you bring
-
A bachelor’s or master’s degree in industrial engineering, operations research, supply chain, business analytics, manufacturing engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field, or equivalent project experience.
-
Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to structure ambiguous questions and turn data into clear recommendations.
-
Interest in semiconductor, electronics, hardware, manufacturing, supply chain, test operations, or capacity planning.
-
Experience using spreadsheets, data tables, trackers, dashboards, or basic models to analyze demand, supply, schedules, inventory, or operational performance.
-
Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to checking assumptions, reconciling data, and tracking actions to completion.
-
Clear written and verbal communication, including the ability to summarize risks, tradeoffs, and decisions for different audiences.
-
Comfort collaborating across teams and with external partners in a fast-moving environment.
-
Ownership, initiative, learning agility, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Helpful experience
-
Forecasting, supply planning, demand planning, capacity modeling, inventory, procurement, manufacturing, or operations projects.
-
Semiconductor wafer, assembly, probe, final-test, handler, tester, load-board, probe-card, or OSAT concepts.
-
Scenario analysis, optimization, utilization analysis, allocation planning, lead-time analysis, or risk modeling.
-
Excel formulas, pivot tables, charts, Power Query, SQL, Python, or another tool used for data analysis and automation.
-
Supplier, contract-manufacturer, or equipment-deployment coordination.
-
Jira, Confluence, SharePoint, Power BI, or other planning and collaboration tools.
