Role overview
As a Sales Engineering Intern, you will learn how technical products are positioned, demonstrated, and applied to customer systems. You will work with Sales, Field Applications Engineering, Product Applications, Engineering, and other cross-functional teams to understand customer needs, support technical conversations, organize follow-through, and turn complex product and application information into clear, useful communications.
This is a hands-on opportunity for a current college or graduate student who is excited by customer-facing technical work, AI and cloud infrastructure, and the intersection of engineering and business.
Key responsibilities

Build foundational knowledge of Astera Labs products, customers, and connectivity use cases in cloud and AI infrastructure.

Learn how customer architectures, workloads, and system requirements shape product and solution discussions.

Support preparation for customer meetings, product demonstrations, technical presentations, and architecture reviews.

Research customer use cases, ecosystem developments, and relevant technologies; synthesize findings for internal stakeholders.

Prepare technical summaries, presentations, demo materials, meeting notes, and follow-up communications.

Coordinate customer and internal actions, maintain accurate documentation, and track deliverables and next steps through closure.

Help capture customer feedback and route questions or issues to the appropriate Sales, FAE, Product Applications, Engineering, Quality, or Operations partners.

Contribute to cross-functional projects that improve customer readiness, product understanding, or sales execution.

Present an end-of-program project and share what you learned with the broader Astera Labs community.
Basic qualifications

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a related discipline.

Foundational understanding of computer systems, hardware, software, or connectivity concepts.

Interest in cloud and AI infrastructure and the ability to learn technical products and customer applications quickly.

Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to different audiences.

Organized, reliable, and comfortable coordinating multiple actions, stakeholders, and deadlines.

Collaborative mindset and interest in working across Sales, Engineering, Product, and customer-facing teams.
Preferred qualifications

Familiarity with PCIe, CXL, Ethernet, server architecture, or other data-center connectivity technologies.

Experience with technical presentations, product demonstrations, customer research, or translating technical information for business audiences.

Academic, project, club, or prior internship experience involving technical problem-solving and cross-functional teamwork.
Internship experience and compensation
This is a paid, hourly U.S. internship. The applicable hourly rate is determined as part of the offer process and specified in the offer letter, depending on education level ranges form $35/hour to $55/hour. U.S. interns currently receive a $500-per-week housing/relocation stipend for the duration of the internship. Interns participate in Early Career programming, including technical and professional-development sessions, community events, and an end-of-program project presentation.
