Recruiting Sourcing Intern

San Jose, CA

Recruiting Sourcing Intern

Location: San Jose, California, United States
Employment type: Internship

About the role

We are looking for a Recruiting Sourcing Intern to join the Talent Acquisition team and help build strong candidate pipelines for Astera Labs’ technical and business roles. This is a hands-on opportunity to learn how recruiting teams identify talent, assess potential, engage candidates, coordinate interviews, and create a thoughtful candidate experience.

You will work with recruiters, recruiting coordinators, hiring teams, and university or program partners to turn role requirements into focused sourcing strategies. The right candidate is curious, resourceful, organized, and motivated to understand both the people and the work behind each role.

What you’ll do

  • Learn Astera Labs’ business, teams, roles, recruiting process, and candidate experience standards through training, shadowing, and hands-on work.

  • Build candidate-sourcing strategies using role-specific keywords, Boolean search strings, research, and approved recruiting channels.

  • Research and identify potential candidates for assigned roles, documenting relevant experience and explaining the candidate-to-role connection.

  • Apply role-specific screening criteria and distinguish must-have qualifications from trainable skills with guidance from the recruiting team.

  • Maintain accurate candidate, outreach, follow-up, and status information in Greenhouse and other approved recruiting systems.

  • Support candidate outreach and follow-up with clear, respectful, and timely communication.

  • Help coordinate interviews, interview materials, scorecards, scheduling, and candidate next steps.

  • Support campus recruiting, career-fair, university, and program-sourcing activities by collecting candidate information consistently and tracking follow-up owners.

  • Partner with recruiters, recruiting coordinators, hiring teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to clarify role profiles, school priorities, sourcing plans, and next actions.

  • Prepare recurring updates on sourcing activity, pipeline quality, follow-up completion, and project progress, including blockers and recommended next steps.

  • Identify gaps in recruiting workflows and develop an adopted process, tracker, or resource that improves team efficiency.

  • Own a defined internship project and present the results, documentation, conclusions, and recommended next steps at the end of the internship.

What you bring

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in human resources, business, communications, psychology, sociology, or a related field.

  • Strong research, organization, written-communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Curiosity about people, technology, and how roles connect to a company’s products and business goals.

  • Ability to learn new systems and processes, manage details accurately, and follow through on commitments.

  • Interest in sourcing, talent acquisition, candidate experience, university recruiting, or recruiting operations.

  • Ability to handle candidate and business information with discretion and professionalism.

  • Comfort asking questions, receiving feedback, solving problems, and working through ambiguity.

  • A proactive, collaborative, learning-oriented approach and the resilience to stay engaged when priorities or sourcing strategies change.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with candidate research, Boolean search, recruiting, campus organizations, career services, customer service, or other people-focused work.

  • Familiarity with applicant-tracking systems, recruiting workflows, spreadsheets, or process documentation.

  • Experience creating trackers, reports, presentations, or other materials that help a team work more efficiently.

  • Interest in technical recruiting and willingness to learn enough about engineering, product, and business roles to represent them accurately to candidates.

Equal opportunity

Astera Labs is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace. We encourage anyone with relevant experience to apply.

Internship experience and compensation

This is a paid, hourly U.S. internship. The applicable hourly rate is determined as part of the offer process and specified in the offer letter, depending on education level ranges from $35/hour to $55/hour. U.S. interns currently receive a $500-per-week housing/relocation stipend for the duration of the internship. Interns participate in Early Career programming, including technical and professional-development sessions, community events, and an end-of-program project presentation.
