Hardware Lab Assistant – Evening Shift – Contract

Salary will be $37 - $45 /hour. And this is a 3 Month contract position.

Hours:

5PM – 11PM

5 days per week – preferably 4 weekdays and 1 weekend day

Overview

Astera Labs Inc. is seeking a self-driven and proactive Hardware Lab Assistant to join our dynamic team in developing world-class connectivity products for AI infrastructure.

Job Description

This role combines hands-on hardware support for evening test operations with general lab maintenance and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, enjoys working with hardware, and takes pride in maintaining an organized and efficient lab environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with an interest in hardware testing and development who is seeking part-time, flexible work hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support our post-silicon electrical validation team by running remote tests during evening hours
  • Collect and organize test data according to team protocols
  • Swap hardware, adjust parameters, and initialize data collection for various test configurations
  • Monitor test progress and troubleshoot basic hardware issues. Log test results, errors, or anomalies.
  • Communicate test statuses and any issues to the engineering team
  • Perform general lab cleanup and organization. Sort, label, and organize cables, components, and lab supplies.
  • Support various lab infrastructure projects as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of hardware components such as cables, connectors, and PCBAs
  • Ability to follow and execute technical procedures and instructions
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently
  • Dependable and punctual with excellent communication skills
  • Comfortable asking questions, escalating issues, and addressing errors as needed
  • Ability to work evening hours to support test operations
  • Ability to lift and transport up to 25 lbs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a hardware lab environment
  • Familiarity with lab equipment (e.g., power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes)
  • Presently enrolled in an electronics, electrical engineering, or related educational program
  • Hands-on experience with soldering or hardware assembly
