Mechanical Integration Engineer
As a member of the Mechanical Integration team at Astranis, you'll be responsible for building parts, subsystems, and ultimately, entire satellites. You will not only work with designers, technicians, and test teams to collaboratively produce the future of communication satellites, but you will also have an opportunity to define new iterations of our factory.
Role
- Design high-level architecture and manage vehicle integration and test operations
- Define flight hardware integration flows, plans, processes, and procedures
- Evaluate proposed designs for manufacturability and integration
- Evaluate non-conformances to determine root cause and create actionable items and system improvements
- Work hands-on with flight hardware at build, test and launch sites to ensure mission success
- Design ground support equipment to assist with the assembly, integration and test of the spacecraft
- Create, maintain and communicate detailed schedules, ensuring the team is aware of tasks and deadlines, including resource identification and acquisition
- Assist in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring additional teammates to our rapidly-growing team
Requirements
- Bachelor's of Science degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
- 2+ years experience in hands-on mechanical engineering, manufacturing, or equivalent role
- Hands-on experience with handling, lifting, or building complex assemblies
- A passion for hardware development, including working in a fast-pace environment and hands-on design and/or process and development
- Strong communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize
- Strong sense of accountability, integrity, and team focus with extensive multitasking and organizational experience

Bonus
- Strong electrical and mechanical systems engineering intuition and critical thinking. Comfort with ambiguity and turning high-level requirements into clear design/test objectives.
- Experience with precision alignments processes, such as FARO scanning, photogrammetry, or laser tracking
- Experience with 3D CAD
- Working knowledge of MATLAB or Python
Base Salary
$115,000 - $135,000 USD
