Senior Electrical Engineer — High Voltage Power Electronics
As a Senior Electrical Engineer for High Voltage Power Electronics, you will be tasked with conceptualizing, designing, testing, validating, and otherwise owning power converters and power systems specializing in high voltage applications in space. You will work with a range of multidisciplinary team members to engineer the best solution, trading size, weight, cost, power efficiency, thermal management, and other key requirements. Specific high voltage considerations include electric field analysis, familiarity with partial breakdown mechanisms and prevention in solid, gas and vacuum insulation systems, partial discharge testing, industry standards for creepage and clearance and potting processes for high voltage systems.
You will be joining an established team of experienced power engineers working to create the next generation of power conversion on our next generation satellites. Day-to-day will include simulations, schematic, layout, and hands-on board bring-up, debugging, and optimizing. Role:
- High voltage analysis, design, and test including transformer design, PCB design, and component selection.
- Technical ownership of design of kW-level power systems for our satellites
- Manage and control key components such as solar panel arrays, power regulation and distribution, power processing and power conditioning
- Integrate these systems into the spacecraft by working closely with the rest of the team
- Assist in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring additional teammates to our rapidly-growing team.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- 6+ years of experience
- A passion for hardware development, including working in a fast-paced environment and hands-on design and development
- Experience working with, designing for, and testing high voltage components and systems
- Experience in designing, building, and testing analog and digital circuits
- Experience in designing DC-DC power converters
- Experience with PCB thermal considerations
- Mastery of electrical CAD (Altium preferred, but not required)
- Experience with electromagnetic field modeling software
- Experience with magnetics in power electronics

Base Salary
$145,000 - $200,000 USD
