Radiation Effects Team Lead
As a Radiation Effects – Team Lead, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and resilience of our satellites in space, while leading and growing a high-performing team.
Role:
- Lead and mentor a team of Radiation Effects Engineers, setting technical direction and guiding execution.
- Develop and own Astranis’s long-term strategy for radiation effects analysis, testing, and mitigation.
- Oversee simulation and modeling of space radiation environments in GTO, GEO, and other higher orbits.
- Direct radiation testing campaigns, including component up-screening, characterization, and failure analysis.
- Partner with Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, and Reliability teams to ensure spacecraft-level resilience.
- Establish and improve processes for radiation analysis, documentation, and test execution.
- Stay hands-on with technical work—supporting analysis, running test campaigns, and reviewing designs.
- Represent the team in cross-functional reviews and communicate results, risks, and recommendations to leadership.
- Recruit, onboard, and develop new team members to scale Astranis’s radiation engineering capability.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering, electrical engineering, physics, or a related field.
- Proven industry experience in radiation effects on electronics, including TID, SEE, and charging.
- Strong technical expertise in circuit testing, system reliability, and spacecraft design.
- Hands-on experience with modeling, simulation, and radiation test execution.
- Demonstrated leadership experience—managing engineers, mentoring teammates, and guiding projects.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to align cross-functional stakeholders.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (U.S. citizen or Green Card holder).
Bonus:
- Graduate degree (MS/PhD) in a relevant field.
- Familiarity with ECAD/MCAD tools (e.g., Altium, SolidWorks).
- Prior experience coordinating radiation test campaigns at external facilities.
Base Salary
$160,000 - $220,000 USD
