Communications Strategist
Astranis is connecting the world through micro-GEO, high-performance satellites, and we’re looking for someone who can convey that story in fresh, unexpected ways.
We’re looking for a Communications Strategist who’s curious, creative, and convincing. You might not come from a comms background, but you know how to find a story, write it sharply, and make it travel, whether that’s through a headline, a reel, or a podcast appearance.
You’ll work closely with Leadership, Engineering, Sales, and Marketing to help Astranis show up wherever our audience is paying attention: from space trade outlets to social feeds, Spotify to Substack.
Role:
- Write compelling stories about Astranis’s people, missions, and technology for multiple formats: blog posts, press notes, social threads, scripts, and speeches.
- Help shape the company’s voice and tone across earned and owned channels.
- Identify new media opportunities: podcasts, newsletters, influencers, YouTubers, and emerging platforms that align with Astranis’s mission.
- Lead traditional PR efforts (press outreach, interview prep, media monitoring) while experimenting with new ways to earn attention.
- Collaborate with Engineers, Sales people, and Marketers to translate complex technical updates and data into human, interesting stories.
- Track what’s working in culture and media, and bring that thinking into Astranis’s storytelling.
- Oversee product launch, company wins, and event-related communications.
- Work with an agency / contractors to amplify our messages.
- Monitor, measure, and report comms performance.
Requirements:
- Exceptional writing and storytelling skills; you can make technical topics readable and relatable.
- 5+ years of experience in content, journalism, marketing, social, or a related creative field.
- Curiosity about science, technology, and how things work.
- Strong digital instincts: you understand how content is shared online and have experience creating stories that spread.
- Self-starter who’s comfortable learning new domains quickly and working independently.
Bonus:
- Experience in aerospace, defense, or telecommunications industries or a passion for space technology and connecting the world.
- Understanding of and sensitivity to marketing across regions, languages, and cultures.
- History of personal social media storytelling, audience development, or community engagement.
- Video, podcasting, or design skills.
