The Associate Shop Technician is an entry-level role responsible for supporting chemical cleaning and passivation processes within Astro Pak facilities. Working under the supervision of Shop Leadership, this position helps ensure customer equipment is processed safely, efficiently, and with exceptional attention to detail. This role includes equipment setup, operation, and maintenance while adhering to all safety standards and procedures.

What You’ll Do:

The Associate Shop Technician is an entry-level role responsible for supporting chemical cleaning and passivation processes within Astro Pak facilities. Working under the supervision of Shop Leadership, this position helps ensure customer equipment is processed safely, efficiently, and with exceptional attention to detail. This role includes equipment setup, operation, and maintenance while adhering to all safety standards and procedures.

Schedule Requirements: This position requires the flexibility to work significant overtime, including weekends and holidays, as well as the ability to respond to short-notice call-ins when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, install, and operate Astro Pak equipment connected to customer systems for chemical cleaning processes while wearing proper PPE
  • Load and unload vehicles with required equipment and chemicals for assigned jobs
  • Test, clean, and maintain company equipment upon return from job sites
  • Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment
  • Safely handle various chemicals, including citric, caustic, and other hazardous substances
  • Manage customer parts with care, including inspection, shipping, and receiving
  • Perform multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Complete all required safety training, including OSHA certifications
  • Follow all company safety policies, practices, and procedures
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace according to CEO (Clean, Efficient, Organized)/5S standards
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Operations Manager

Work & Physical Environment

  • Exposure to mechanical parts, dust, fumes, smoke, toxic chemicals, and strong odors
  • Periodic exposure to noisy, wet, humid, or confined/awkward workspaces
  • Work performed at heights including ladders, rooftops, scaffolding, and bucket trucks
  • Exposure to vibration from power tools such as jackhammers and impact wrenches
  • Regular standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling
  • Use of hands, fingers, arms, and full-body movement required
  • Clear distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision necessary
  • Ability to speak and hear effectively during operations and team communication

Required

  • Valid Medical DOT Certificate or ability to obtain one
  • One year of technical training or related experience, or equivalent combination
  • Ability to read and follow instructions, strong verbal and written communication
  • Able to lift 50 lbs. and wear required PPE, including respirators
  • Basic math skills and moderate computer proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Preferred

  • High school diploma or GED; technical training or AA degree
  • HAZWOPER and Confined Space certifications
