POSITION SUMMARY:
Atalanta is seeking a highly motivated and hands-on Controller to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this individual will be responsible for overseeing financial reporting activities, compliance and regulatory requirements, as well as managing internal controls and audits. The Controller will have the demonstrated ability to work both independently as well as part of a cross-functional team to manage technical accounting processes that advance drug development efforts across the organization. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in implementing efficient accounting processes and best practices while operating with the highest standards of accuracy as we continue to grow in a highly regulated industry.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee financial reporting for the organization in compliance with the company’s reporting requirements and operating procedures, ensuring GAAP compliance statements are accurate and produced on a timely basis
- Coordinate the preparation and distribution of internal and external financial reports including any required monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting
- Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process
- Prepare financial reports and analysis for executive leadership, board meetings, and investors as necessary
- Oversee technical accounting activities, regulatory filings, and other disclosures
- Develop, implement, and monitor internal control systems to safeguard company assets and support SOX compliance
- Coordinate annual audits and manage relationships with external auditors
- Manage tax preparation and filings, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements
- Partner with FP&A team and internal/external stakeholders to develop and monitor budgets and forecasts
- Participate in strategic financial planning and risk management activities to ensure alignment with the company’s growth objectives
- Build partnerships internally and externally that lead to the highest levels of collaboration and effectiveness
- Maintain and update company-wide accounting and finance policies as necessary, including the creation of new policies for newly adopted accounting standards
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline along with a minimum of 8-10 plus years of accounting experience is required
- Active CPA designation required
- Public accounting experience and experience with SEC reporting is highly preferred
- Strong technical accounting foundation with understanding of US GAAP, SEC regulations, and SOX compliance requirements
- Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Great Plains, etc.) and financial reporting tools is desirable
- Excellent verbal/written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills is required
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented and analytical approach is desirable
- Entrepreneurial approach and ability to work in a fast-paced, agile, and high-growth company environment
- Self-starter attitude with the ability to prioritize work and work efficiently with minimal supervision is required
