Role Overview

We are seeking an Underwriting Technician Regional Lead to oversee our Midwest and West Coast underwriting teams. This is a career-elevating opportunity that combines hands-on underwriting expertise with team leadership, perfect for someone ready to take a strategic step forward in their insurance career. This role will drive team performance to achieve target renewal metrics while maintaining close connection to the day-to-day underwriting work and fostering a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop a team of Underwriting Technicians handling renewal accounts across Midwest and West Coast regions, including training on new strategies and guidelines, performance management, and work distribution optimization.
  • Assisting in developing talent, recruiting for open roles, and raising underperformance.
  • Drive individual production and team delivery against new & renewal business targets, as well as service level agreement achievement, using a data-driven approach.
  • Act as an escalation point for team members, underwriters, and other stakeholders in the organization, providing guidance and resolution for complex situations.
  • Partner cross-functionally ( e.g., with underwriting leadership, insurance leadership, etc.) to ensure smooth delivery of new processes, technology, products, and other initiatives into day-to-day operations.
  • Consistently evaluate current-state for potential areas of improvement aimed at increasing efficiency and quality across the regional teams.
  • Assist regional underwriters in broker relationship development through in-person and virtual marketing events (not including general broker visits).
  • Represent underwriting operations on various company-wide projects.

Attributes and Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of insurance experience in underwriting, underwriting technician, or claims roles, with cyber insurance experience strongly preferred.
  • Management or team leadership experience preferred, though we welcome candidates ready to step into their first formal leadership role.
  • Team-oriented approach, recognizing that aiding in developing others and is directly linked to the overall team’s success.
  • Basic technical proficiency in cyber underwriting and knowledge of existing processes and workflow.
  • Comfortable with change and thriving in fast-paced, dynamic environments - someone who can adapt quickly and help their team navigate evolving processes.
  • Driven person who gets a deep satisfaction from getting things done and is not afraid to challenge conventional approaches.
  • Excellent multi-tasker, comfortable working in a fast paced, dynamic tech environment. 
  • Demonstrate a clear, concise communication style - written and verbal - with strong soft skills for team management.
