Position Summary
A-TEK is seeking a highly capable Project Manager III to oversee major components of complex IT initiatives. This role is responsible for developing strategic plans, resolving multifaceted project challenges, and ensuring successful delivery of technical, financial, and schedule objectives. The Project Manager will collaborate closely with scientists, researchers, and administrative staff working to safeguard and improve public health.
This position is based in Bethesda, MD.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate cross-functional project teams across technical and non-technical disciplines
- Develop and manage comprehensive short-term and long-term project plans
- Identify and resolve project-related challenges involving technology, scheduling, and methodology
- Drive the integration of emerging technologies, including AI, GenAI, NLP, and LLMs, into mission-critical environments
- Integrate Customer and User Experience considerations into all phases of the project, ensuring they remain aligned with key milestones, budget limitations, and client expectations.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience managing large or complex IT projects
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience implementing AI, GenAI, NLP, LLMs, or related technologies
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
- Current Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent
- Proven experience with Agile frameworks and tools such as JIRA and Confluence
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and modern DevOps practices
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated leadership in federal health IT programs (e.g., NIH, HHS, VA), with a focus on compliance with Section 508, HIPAA, FISMA, and HITECH
- Strong understanding of IT governance, risk management, and the systems development lifecycle (SDLC) within government healthcare systems
The salary range for this position is $115,000 to $145,000 commensurate with experience.
