Position Overview

The Web Software Developer supports the design, development, modernization, and maintenance of enterprise web applications and content platforms within a government environment. The developer works across multiple web technologies including Drupal-based websites, SharePoint environments, and modern JavaScript frameworks. The role supports ongoing modernization initiatives that incorporate cloud technologies and modern application frameworks.

The Web Software Developer collaborates with technical teams, content owners, and system administrators to implement scalable, accessible, and secure web solutions that support mission operations and public-facing digital services.

Key Responsibilities

Web Application Development

Design, develop, test, and maintain web applications and content platforms supporting enterprise and public-facing systems.

Develop and maintain Drupal-based web applications including module development, configuration, and administration.

Implement front-end development using modern JavaScript frameworks such as React to support application modernization efforts.

Develop user interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript while ensuring compatibility across browsers and devices.

Support application integration with backend services, APIs, and databases.

SharePoint Development and Administration

Support development and administration of SharePoint Online environments including intranet sites, workflows, and content management capabilities.

Develop custom SharePoint components, page layouts, and automation workflows to support internal collaboration and document management.

Assist with migration or integration of legacy systems into modern SharePoint or web-based environments.

System Modernization and Cloud Support

Support modernization initiatives involving migration or integration of systems into cloud environments.

Assist with development and deployment of applications in AWS-based environments.

Work with technical teams to support containerized or cloud-hosted web applications and services.

Implement best practices for scalable and maintainable cloud-enabled applications.

Content Management and Web Operations

Work with program stakeholders and content owners to publish and maintain web content.

Ensure web applications meet accessibility requirements including Section 508 and WCAG standards.

Monitor web platform performance and support troubleshooting and maintenance activities.

Maintain documentation related to system configuration, development practices, and deployment processes.

Collaboration and Technical Support

Collaborate with developers, designers, system administrators, and program staff to implement new features and system improvements.

Participate in Agile or iterative development activities including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and technical reviews.

Provide technical guidance and support related to web technologies and content platforms.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Media Technology, or a related field.

Professional experience developing and maintaining enterprise web applications.

Experience working with Drupal content management systems including development and administration.

Experience developing web applications using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern JavaScript frameworks such as React.

Experience supporting or developing solutions within SharePoint Online environments.

Experience working with relational databases such as SQL.

Understanding of accessibility standards including Section 508 and WCAG compliance.

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work within government enterprise environments.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting modernization or migration of legacy web platforms.

Familiarity with AWS cloud services and basic cloud architecture concepts.

Experience integrating APIs or backend services with front-end applications.

Experience supporting content management workflows and publishing processes.

Experience working in federal government environments or supporting public sector organizations.
