Business Analyst (Mobile Game Analytics)
The Job
Join our Live Ops team as a Business Analyst and help shape how data drives decisions across our live mobile games. You’ll work closely with Product, Monetization, Production, and Design leadership to turn game data into clear, actionable insights that improve retention, engagement, monetization, and live-ops performance.
This is a product-embedded role with ownership at its core. You won’t just respond to ad-hoc requests, you’ll help prioritize analytics work, maintain an analytics backlog, and ensure insights translate directly into business decisions. Speed, judgment, and clarity matter.
The Team
Our Live Ops team is responsible for the ongoing success of ATA’s live games portfolio. Some of our games have over 100,000 dedicated players, with player-driven trade economies and passionate communities. We operate in a fast-paced live environment where seasonal events, content beats, and revenue moments require rapid, high-quality analysis and strong decision support.
We’ve invested in self-serve analytics infrastructure (BigQuery and Looker). This role turns that capability into measurable outcomes. You’ll report to the Director of Product – Live Ops and serve as the dedicated analytics partner for the team.
What You’ll Work On
Analytics Ownership & Intake
- Own analytics request intake, scoping, prioritization, and delivery.
- Maintain and manage an analytics backlog, including scoping, re-prioritization and pushback when needed.
- Act as the central point of context for analytics work across teams.
- Define and uphold analytics standards and conventions.
Insight Generation & Decision Support
- Translate game, monetization, and operational data into clear recommendations tied to business impact.
- Produce dashboards, analyses, and executive-ready summaries that inform live-ops tuning, event strategy, monetization planning, and risk assessment.
- Partner with Product leadership on quarterly planning, forecasting, and post-event analysis using repeatable frameworks.
- Clearly articulate implications, trade-offs, and recommended next steps.
Dashboarding & Reporting
- Transition exploratory BigQuery and Google Sheets analyses into durable, standardized Looker dashboards.
- Ensure dashboards are reliable, documented, and aligned with decision-making workflows.
- Improve reporting clarity and reduce signal-to-noise across Leviathan.
Proactive Monitoring & Live Ops Support
- Set up manual and automated alerts to detect KPI anomalies and emerging risks.
- Support live-ops teams during major events, sales, and incidents with rapid analysis.
- Contribute to analytics-driven playbooks for recurring scenarios (e.g., major events, retention drops, revenue risk).
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Collaborate with Product, Monetization, Production, Design, and Engineering to align on goals and constraints.
- Challenge assumptions, validate hypotheses, and influence prioritization through data.
- Leverage AI tools to accelerate analysis and workflow efficiency.
Who You Are
You’re an experienced analyst who understands mobile free-to-play games and thrives in an embedded product environment.
You’re comfortable managing competing priorities, working asynchronously, and delivering insight quickly under time pressure. You focus on the right questions, not exhaustive exploration, and communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders.
Must-Have Skills and Experience
- 3–5 years of experience in game analytics, live-ops analytics, product analytics, or a similar embedded role.
- Strong understanding of F2P KPIs (retention, ARPDAU, payer conversion, LTV, event impact).
- Experience working with datasets, preferred high proficiency in SQL (BigQuery or equivalent)
- Experience building and maintaining dashboards in Looker or comparable BI platforms.
- Solid statistical reasoning and analytical judgment.
- Ability to work asynchronously, manage competing priorities, and deliver insights quickly under time pressure.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present insights clearly to non-technical audiences
