Description:
The Athletics are currently seeking a Major League Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach who will support the Major League team. This individual will have the responsibility to ensure that the physical performance of our players is maximized through safe and effective training methods that prepare them for top performance on the field.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop innovative approaches that enhance player performance and support long-term health and wellness through creativity and forward-thinking solutions.
- Implement in-season and off-season programs for players. Oversee workouts of all players on the Major League roster.
- Advise players on diet and proper nutrition.
- Maintain records and database of all strength-related work (e.g. weight, body fat, workout times, etc.) for players.
- Consult with and advise front office and clubhouse staff on all issues related to strength and conditioning including weight room equipment, clubhouse nutrition, travel issues, etc.
- Foster open communication and support collaboration with the player development staff.
- Other duties related to strength and conditioning as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Relevant work experience at the professional, collegiate, or equivalent level.
- Current federal and state licenses and certifications in good standing – CSCS, RSCC, or equivalent.
- Frequent lifting up to 100 lbs, sitting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, hand exercises, and more.
- Willingness to travel to Mesa, AZ for spring training.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
- Prior experience in professional baseball is preferred.
