Description:

The Athletics are currently seeking a Taiwanese Mandarin Interpreter at the Lew Wolff Spring Training Facility in Mesa, AZ. This position will provide translation assistance to international players from Taiwan and report directly to the Director of Minor League Operations.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide Taiwanese Mandarin translation for workouts, games, and off field matters.
  • Assist with interpreting verbal and written information from Player Development staff to Taiwanese Mandarin speaking players.
  • Assisting Taiwanese Mandarin speaking players with education and cultural acclimation to life in the United States.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications/Requirements:

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Work experience providing translation services in sports, entertainment or a related industry is preferred.
  • Bilingual and bi-literate in Taiwanese Mandarin / English required.
  • Familiarity understanding the variations of cultural context and nuances from Taiwan.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to handle confidential matters with sensitivity and discretion.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Possess excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work a varied schedule including long hours, nights, weekends and holidays to accommodate baseball schedules.
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally as needed.
