Description:

The Athletics are currently seeking a Manager, Spring Training Sales & Operations. This position will report directly to the Director, Spring Training Business Operations. The position is responsible for maximizing revenue for the Ticket Sales Department through the proactive, outbound sales of season tickets, group tickets, and premium areas. In addition, the role will assist in the overall business operations of Spring Training, including but not limited to stadium operations, in-venue retail, ticket operations, sponsorship activation and installation, facility maintenance, fan safety, concessions, and in-game entertainment. This is a full-time position that exposes the individual to the business of sports, provides career development opportunities in a variety of sales mediums, and offers the potential for career growth to successful individuals within our organization. The position also participates in special projects as assigned, to support department objectives and offers a rare opportunity to grow a professional sports sales career in an exciting and supportive training environment. The Manager, Sales & Operations will also support the Director, Spring Training Business Operations in the overall operations function for the Spring Training season.

Responsibilities:

  • Meeting or exceeding sales goals with integrity while surpassing client expectations in customer service.
  • Selling season tickets, group tickets, and premium areas to clients via outbound phone calls, face-to-face appointments, game day marketing, off-site networking events, incoming inquiries, etc.
  • Contributing to year over year revenue growth primarily focused on group ticket sales.
  • Prioritizing retention by providing superior customer service to clients, including game day visits.
  • Performing game day duties including visiting clients, preparing and closing the stadium for game day, and assisting with setup and breakdown for various department and company events.
  • Engaging in civic activities, attending community events, and representing the A’s at off-site events to prospect for new business.
  • Maintaining compliance with the CRM system, including maintaining an accurate dashboard; working within the system on all campaigns and initiatives; and properly documenting activities, touch points, rewards/gifts, etc.
  • Meeting or exceeding key performance indicators as determined by the Director, Spring Training Business Operations.
  • Overseeing retail inventory and receiving management, including verifying incoming shipments and accurate documentation of goods. Analyze the volume of incoming shipments, the complexity of tasks, and required processing times to provide and schedule appropriate staffing.
  • Assisting in stadium operations and game day staff management, including creating and assigning work shifts.
  • Acting as the local manager of ticket service & retention as the main point of contact with  the box office manager.
  • Assisting in the hiring process for seasonal staff, including defining roles, reviewing resumes, conducting interviews, and making recommendations for hiring decisions
  •  Scheduling shifts and processing timecards  for seasonal staff.
  • Other duties as assigned by the managerial staff.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 3+ years of experience in Sales or a related field.
  • Able to work a non-traditional schedule, which includes nights, weekends, and some home games; may require frequent overtime between December-April.  
  • Able to occasionally move about to access various areas of the stadium and remain standing for extended periods of time.
  • Able to occasionally move equipment weighing up to (25) pounds. 
  • Able to work in outdoor weather conditions as needed.
  • Possess a strong work ethic and a desire to build a career in professional sports.
  • Self-motivated and able to work both collaboratively and independently while maintaining a high level of integrity
  • Able to work non-traditional hours including nights, weekends, holidays, game days, and off-site events.
  • Exhibit a positive, team-first attitude, a competitive desire to succeed, and a willingness to learn.
  • Excellent personal and professional communication skills.
  • Able to effectively manage time, resources, and information to achieve goals.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Salesforce CRM, and related software skills.
  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Prior sports/sales experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with ProVenue preferred.
