How You Will Make an Impact:

The Environmental Health & Safet (EHS) Coordinator is responsible for assisting the EHS & operations team in supporting and guiding the region to achieve the company’s health and safety objectives. Your role will involve aiding and instruction to all levels of management, EHS personnel, and employees to reduce the frequency and severity of personal injuries, motor vehicle accidents, property damage, and environmental releases. You will audit safety efforts across the region, implement best practices, and ensure compliance with company policies and local, state, and federal regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with project management during site buildouts to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, NFPA70E, state environmental agencies, local authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) and Atlas EHS safety policies. Ensure compliance standards for contractor safety for both permanent and temporary power generation facilities.
  • Conduct comprehensive EHS audits of generation and battery storage systems, ensuring compliance with applicable electrical, mechanical, and environmental standards.
  • Provide expertise in accident investigations to identify causes and recommend preventive measures.
  • Support implementation and auditing of electrical safety programs, including high-voltage systems, arc flash hazard analysis, LOTO, and energized work controls.
  • Oversee safety controls and emergency planning related to battery energy storage systems (BESS), including thermal runaway mitigation and fire response protocols.
  • Participate in commissioning and transition activities from temporary to permanent installations, ensuring EHS requirements are embedded in design and construction phases.
  • Conduct field audits during construction and transition phases to verify adherence to safety and environmental requirements.
  • Track and analyze leading and lagging indicators to recommend risk-reduction strategies specific to power generation operations.
  • Develop and maintain site-specific Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) tailored to generator and battery storage hazards. Coordinate drills involving fire departments and local emergency responders.
  • Adhere to company policies and work requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or related field with 2–4 years of EHS experience in power generation, energy infrastructure, or heavy industrial operations; OR
  • Associate degree in a related technical discipline with 4+ years of relevant EHS experience in electrical or power generation environments; OR
  • High School Diploma/GED with 6+ years of progressive EHS experience supporting high-energy, industrial, or construction operations. Two years of managerial or supervisory experience in the oilfield services industry; or
  • Safety Professional Certification such as OHST, CHST, SMS, ASP, or CSP is a plus.
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience supporting electrical safety programs, including NFPA 70E implementation, arc flash hazard mitigation, and LOTO
  • Experience supporting construction safety programs, contractor oversight, and site build or commissioning activities preferred.
  • Familiarity with battery energy storage systems (BESS) or other high-energy storage technologies preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting incident investigations utilizing root cause methodologies (TapRooT, 5-Why, Fishbone, etc.
  • Knowledge of contractor safety compliance systems (Avetta, ISNetWorld, PEC/Veriforce) preferred.
  • Effective communication skills with operations leadership, contractors, regulators, and customers.
  • Ability to work in both construction and operational environments during site transition phases.
