Role Overview

We are currently seeking a Head of Digital Software Engineering to spearhead our digital initiatives with a balance of technical expertise and strategic leadership. The successful candidate will actively contribute to the creation of superior software, leveraging our React and Java platforms, while fostering an environment that emphasizes teamwork and continuous improvement. With a strong background in software and API construction, comprehensive testing, and code excellence, this individual will be an integral part of a company that’s at the vanguard of private asset-backed finance, setting new industry standards and redefining market expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Software Engineering: Lead the creation and implementation of high-quality software solutions. Utilize Java to build scalable software architecture, ensuring the delivery of applications that are both reliable and efficient.
  • Innovative Design Leadership: Spearhead software design and API development. Create intuitive APIs and software systems that fulfill technical and business needs, emphasizing long-term sustainability and maintainability.
  • Quality Assurance Advocacy: Champion a culture of automated testing. Establish and uphold a comprehensive testing framework to ensure extensive coverage and consistent performance across all software layers.
  • Code Excellence Maintenance: Maintain exemplary code quality. Conduct regular code reviews, engage in refactoring, and enforce adherence to the best coding practices to ensure high standards.
  • Team Development and Mentoring: Nurture team growth and foster a positive culture. Serve as a mentor and leader, promoting continuous learning and encouraging the adoption of efficient development methodologies.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with cross-disciplinary teams. Work in tandem with product managers, designers, and other key stakeholders to synchronize development initiatives with overarching company objectives and user requirements.
  • Industry Acumen and Innovation: Stay at the forefront of industry developments. Leverage cutting-edge trends and technologies to drive innovation and secure a strategic edge.

Qualifications

  • Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficient in Java, and modern databases, with knowledge of cloud services and DevOps practices to support scalable and efficient application development.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in full-stack development, with a proven track record of successful project delivery.
  • Software Design: Demonstrated ability in software and API design, with a portfolio of scalable and maintainable software solutions.
  • Testing and Quality Assurance: Extensive experience in automated testing, including unit, integration, and end-to-end tests, to ensure code quality and application reliability.
  • Leadership: Experience in leading development teams, mentoring junior developers, and promoting a culture of technical excellence.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Continuous Learning: A commitment to continuous professional development, with a keen interest in staying updated with the latest industry trends and technologies.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the field of private asset-backed finance is a plus. Willingness to engage deeply in this innovative area is essential.
  • Architect and Execute Superior Software Solutions: Construct and sustain advanced software frameworks utilizing React and Java to ensure the provision of dependable and high-performance applications.
  • Direct Software Architecture and API Creation: Forge user-friendly APIs and software infrastructures that satisfy both technical specifications and business objectives, emphasizing sustainable development.
  • Advocate for Comprehensive Automated Testing: Institute and advocate for a stringent testing regimen to ensure extensive coverage and unwavering software reliability across all digital platforms.
  • Ensure Code Excellence: Maintain exemplary code standards through consistent code assessments, restructuring, and compliance with best programming practices.
  • Cultivate Team Development and Organizational Culture: Serve as a guiding figure and coach within the team, fostering an environment of perpetual growth and refinement, while promoting effective software development methodologies.
  • Engage in Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engage intimately with product leaders, creative teams, and other key players to synchronize development activities with overarching corporate objectives and consumer expectations.
  • Pursue Ongoing Technological Education: Keep at the forefront of emerging trends and breakthroughs in technology, especially concerning private asset-backed finance, to spearhead innovation and secure a competitive edge.

*Position is based at the Raleigh/Durham area location. 100% remote work option is not offered.

The base salary range for this position is listed above. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on personal, team, and Firm performance. Compensation ranges are based on several factors including job function, level, and geographic location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed here.
