About the role:

The Director of DevOps lead our DevOps strategy, drive automation, enhance security, and optimize our cloud infrastructure. This role requires deep expertise in Azure, AWS, GitHub, Networking, Database Administration, and Application Development. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable and secure DevOps solutions that empower our engineering teams to deliver high-quality applications efficiently.  This role is exempt.  

 

Responsibilities:

  • Define and execute the DevOps roadmap aligned with company objectives.
  • Lead and mentor a team of DevOps engineers to foster a culture of automation, security, and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with engineering, security, and product teams to enhance CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure, and operations.
  • Architect, manage, and optimize cloud environments on Azure and AWS.
  • Implement/maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Develop and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps.
  • Ensure high availability, scalability, and reliability of cloud-native applications.
  • Implement and enforce secrets management strategies using Azure Key Vault, AWS Secrets Manager, and HashiCorp Vault.
  • Drive DevSecOps best practices by integrating security scanning, vulnerability management, and compliance checks into CI/CD workflows.
  • Ensure secure handling of credentials, API keys, and sensitive data across cloud platforms and repositories.
  • Oversee database operations for SQL, NoSQL, PostgreSQL, and MySQL environments.
  • Implement database backup, disaster recovery, and performance tuning strategies.
  • Ensure security and compliance of databases, including encryption and access control.
  • Deploy and maintain observability tools (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, Azure Monitor, AWS CloudWatch).
  • Establish automated alerting and response mechanisms for system reliability.
  • Lead incident management and post-mortem analysis to improve system resilience.
  • Work closely with development teams to adopt DevOps principles, improve developer productivity, and streamline releases.
  • Promote GitOps methodologies and best practices for source control management.
  • Define and enforce SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) practices to maintain SLAs and system uptime.

 

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, or infrastructure automation.
  • 5+ years in a leadership role managing DevOps teams.
  • Expertise in Azure and AWS cloud environments.
  • Strong experience with GitHub, GitHub Actions, and Azure DevOps for CI/CD.
  • Deep knowledge of secrets management (Azure Key Vault, AWS Secrets Manager, HashiCorp Vault).
  • Experience with database administration (SQL, NoSQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL).
  • Strong knowledge of application security, IAM, and compliance frameworks.
  • Strong AppSec background with direct experience with OWASP top 10 and NIST guidelines
  • Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
  • Experience with observability, monitoring, and logging tools (DataDog, Prometheus, Grafana, etc…).
