Position Description

As Employment Counsel for the MEA region, you will serve as a key legal advisor, delivering strategic and practical guidance on a broad range of employment law matters. Your responsibilities will span both contentious and non-contentious issues, including but not limited to drafting employment policies documents and agreements, managing disputes and claims, advising on disciplinary actions and terminations, and leading settlement negotiations. In this role, you will work cross-functionally with HR teams, senior leadership, and external legal counsel to support business objectives while ensuring compliance with applicable labour laws. You will also provide legal insight on matters intersecting with employment law, such as corporate governance, commercial agreements, data privacy, and GDPR compliance. This position involves a significant focus on litigation and dispute resolution, requiring strong advocacy skills and a proactive approach to managing risk in a dynamic, international environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert legal advice on employment-related matters across the MEA region.
  • Reviewing, updating and/or drafting contracts of employment, employment related documentation.
  • Supporting the Regional Employment Law Manager with drafting, advice, research and/or reviews of employment termination documents, processes and/or advices.
  • Working with internal stakeholders and clients on employment law related matters.
  • Reviewing, updating, and/or drafting policies for the workplace.
  • Responding to legal information requests related to employment law in the region.
  • Supporting with any administrative or process-driven tasks related to the employment law department.
  • Keeping internal stakeholders apprised of developments in employment and employment related laws from time to time in the region.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external counsel on cross-border employment matters.
  • Contribute to internal training and knowledge sharing on employment law topics.

Minimum Requirements

  • Qualified lawyer with a minimum of 3 years’ experience with a strong background in employment law.
  • Familiarity with MEA labour laws and international HR practices preferred.
  • Strong command of employment laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to manage complex matters in a fast-paced client facing, global environment.
  • Proven experience in a client-facing role with a strong ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
