The Director of Business Operations serves as a strategic enabler within the Operations organization, driving alignment, execution, and operational excellence across complex global processes and cross-functional initiatives. Reporting to the VP, Business Excellence this role partners closely with leaders across Legal, Compliance, Payroll, HR, Benefits, Finance, Product & Technology, Client Success, and regional operations teams to ensure operational priorities are executed efficiently, consistently, and in alignment with enterprise objectives.
This role plays a critical part in enabling scalable global operations by driving project oversight, cross-functional coordination, executive communications, operational governance, and process optimization. The Director of Business Operations helps ensure Atlas continues to deliver compliant, high-quality, and client-centric services across all regions while supporting organizational growth and operational maturity.
Key responsibilities:
Project Oversight
- Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of strategic projects and operational initiatives across the organization.
- Ensure initiatives remain aligned with company objectives, timelines, budgets, and operational priorities.
- Proactively identify risks, drive accountability, and implement solutions that support operational excellence and business outcomes.
Communication & Executive Alignment
- Facilitate clear, consistent communication between leadership, cross-functional teams, and regional stakeholders.
- Prepare executive-level updates, presentations, and operational reporting materials that support strategic decision-making.
- Escalate operational risks, issues, and opportunities with clear recommendations and business impact insights.
Cross-Functional Operations
- Partners across Legal, Compliance, Payroll, HR, Benefits, Finance, Product & Technology, Client Success, and regional teams to drive alignment and execution.
- Coordinate cross-functional initiatives, process improvements, and operational rollouts across global teams and regions.
- Help streamline workflows, improve operational efficiency, and support scalable service delivery models.
Operational Governance & Process Excellence
- Support the development and management of operational governance frameworks, project tracking, and issue resolution processes.
- Monitor operational performance, process adherence, and execution effectiveness across strategic initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement efforts focused on operational consistency, accountability, and service quality.
Stakeholder Partnership
- Build strong relationships with executive leadership and key stakeholders across the organization.
- Serve as a trusted operational partner by fostering collaboration, driving alignment, and supporting enterprise operational priorities.
- Help strengthen organizational readiness and operational scalability during periods of growth and transformation.
About you
- 13+ years of experience in business operations, strategic operations, project management, or operational excellence roles within complex global organizations.
- Proven success leading large-scale, cross-functional initiatives and enterprise operational projects in fast-paced, matrixed environments.
- Experience supporting global operations within HR services, workforce solutions, outsourcing, EOR, or related operational models preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and operational initiatives simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to drive operational alignment, process improvement, governance, and cross-functional collaboration across global teams.
- Proficiency with project management and operational reporting tools, including Asana, Monday.com, Smartsheet, PowerPoint, Excel, and Power BI.
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, PMP, Lean Six Sigma, or related business operations certifications preferred.
- Willingness to travel periodically and work across global time zones as needed.
