Director, Marketing and Brands - Thunderbird Entertainment

Atomic Cartoon's Parent company Thunderbird Entertainment is seeking a Director, Brands and Marketing. This position oversees company-owned and licensed intellectual property managed by Thunderbird Distribution (global media sales) and Thunderbird Brands (global merchandising and licensing).  The company’s brands include children’s and family (Last Kids on Earth, Mermicorno: Starfall) and adult titles (Highway Thru Hell, Kim’s Convenience). 


Thunderbird Entertainment Group is a global award-winning, full-service multiplatform production, distribution and rights management company, headquartered in Vancouver, with offices in Los Angeles and Ottawa. Thunderbird creates award-winning scripted, unscripted, and animated programming for the world’s leading digital platforms, as well as Canadian and international broadcasters. Thunderbird develops, produces, and distributes animated, factual, and scripted content through its various content arms, including Thunderbird Kids and Family (Atomic Cartoons), Thunderbird Unscripted (Great Pacific Media) and Thunderbird Scripted.



What You Will Do:

  • Elevate company brands in terms of awareness and reputation within the media and consumer products industries through targeted campaigns, advertising, marketing, sponsorship, influencer partnerships and other strategies. 
  • Supervise and support the creation and updating of brand sales decks, video promos, style guides and other materials for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders at media platforms, consumer products companies and retailers.
  • Review and consult on the development of consumer products.
  • Plan and execute trade media buys and creative, including advertising and sponsorship opportunities.
  • Conceptualize and implement promotional campaigns with strategic partners, internal and external.
  • Oversee content produced in-house by the Manager, Digital Media, for YouTube and social media channels for the company’s key brands.  
  • Manage Company attendance at Key industry events, including booth marketing and team member participation on relevant industry panels.

What We Are Looking For

  • Prior experience managing trade and consumer marketing related to successful brands in the United States, particular brands for kids and families, at major entertainment, consumer products or rights management companies.
  • Prior experience in a similar role relating to Marketing, that oversees company-owned and licensed intellectual property.
  • A Relevant Post-secondary certificate, diploma, degree, training and/or experience.
  • Experience creating social media and Youtube content.
  • Experience identifying and working with external public relations and social media related agencies and brands on a wide range of projects.
  • Experience creating and managing budgets relating to media and consumer products.
  • An ability to manage multiple projects across a diverse range of brands concurrently.
  • An ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Candidates residing within Los Angeles and the surrounding areas are preferred for this role, however all candidates will be considered

At Atomic Cartoons and Thunderbird Entertainment, we take into consideration a wide range of compensation factors including background, skills, location, and experience to determine competitive base pay. In addition to competitive base pay, this position is eligible for incentive compensation, company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, and a variety of other discounts and perks. ​​Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.

LA Pay Range

$125,000 - $175,000 USD
