The Opportunity

We believe that technology is rapidly transforming the Venture Capital asset class, that investment firms of the near future will operate on top of highly sophisticated public and proprietary data systems, supporting and augmenting every aspect of the investment life cycle, from discovery and diligence to portfolio support.

At Atomico, we see the massive potential value these systems can unlock over the past 10 years, we’ve invested heavily in our internal capabilities and tooling and have one of the most sophisticated internal platforms on the market, we aim to accelerate that early lead and are investing further in this capability.

This role is a core execution position within the Insights team, responsible for owning repeatable analytical processes, supporting the investment team’s due diligence processes with high-quality data work, and acting as a year-over-year anchor for Atomico’s flagship research and intelligence efforts, including the State of European Tech.

While this is not an investment role, you will be close to the investment decision-making process, to which we expect you to contribute insights and relationships.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver structured competitor benchmarks, feature maps, and market landscapes to support IC decisions
  • Execute survey programming, data cleaning, and analysis for diligence and thematic work
  • Produce consistent, high-quality due diligence materials across Venture and Growth teams
  • Support the production of the annual flagship ‘State of European Tech’ report, including owning large parts of the end-to-end analytical execution of SOET and supporting on the evolution of the annual State of European Tech survey 
  • Help to maintain best-in-class set of third-party suppliers
  • Build relationships and develop a high quality networks within the broader ecosystem
  • Contribute to team and firm building initiatives  

Qualifications & Experience

  • Ability to tell stories with data: You love the power of data and logical reasoning to connect dots, unlocking its secrets and telling its story, so that others are empowered by the new-found knowledge and can look into the future 
  • Analytical & technical skills:You’re able to use a variety of tools (Google Sheets, Excel, Google Slides, Powerpoint) to produce high-quality analysis. You are also comfortable working with large datasets and repeatable analytical workflows. Comfortable writing and adapting SQL. Experience with python would be a strong plus and enable deeper collaboration with our technical team. 
  • Track record: Your passion and commitment has helped you to frequently overcome challenges and exceed people’s expectations in your life, including in your early professional career (2+ years of experience in a relevant field) 
  • Passion for (European) tech: You’re passionate about the role that technology and entrepreneurship will play in helping to solve world problems at scale 
  • Curiosity: You are committed to learning and your curiosity to generate and explore new ideas is rarely, if ever, satisfied 
  • Managing relationships: You understand how to build strong interpersonal relationships within a diverse group of decision-makers and teams and are able to contribute effectively, whoever is around you
  • Time and project management: You understand your time is your most valuable asset and you set and manage your priorities on that basis. You like to see things through until completion, and you are not happy when something is started but not taken to an appropriate conclusion

  • Becomes a trusted execution partner for the investment and insights teams
  • Owns recurring analytical processes with minimal oversight
  • Acts as an anchor for SOET and other long-term intelligence programmes
