ABOUT ATOMICO

Atomico is the founder-built European venture capital firm. We partner with the most ambitious entrepreneurs using technology to rewire the world, better.

Skype co-founder Niklas Zennström launched Atomico in 2006 with the belief that entrepreneurs are the ultimate gamechangers for positive transformation across the most critical aspects of our society and economy. Starting in Europe, the firm’s mission is to further their global progress, with a platform offering unmatched support from the early stage to scale.

Over 150 of Europe’s most ambitious founders have partnered with Atomico, including Aiven, Bird (formerly MessageBird), DeepL, Hinge Health, Jobandtalent, Klarna, Neko Health, Pipedrive, Stripe, Supercell and Wellhub. Atomico's team of investors and operational leaders are drawn from some of the most successful technology companies in the world, including Skype, Google, Twitter and Wise.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role is a paid internship and candidates are required to have a right to work in Germany (no visa sponsorship).

As a Visiting Analyst, you will be a fully embedded member of Atomico’s Venture Team, working hands-on across our early-stage investing activities (Seed / Series A). This is a high-responsibility role designed for candidates seeking real exposure to venture investing. You will contribute directly to sourcing, company evaluation, diligence, thematic research, and portfolio work — working closely with our entire Atomico team throughout the investment process.

  • Deal Sourcing & Screening: identify and evaluate high-quality early-stage startups through inbound, outbound, and ecosystem-driven sourcing. Conduct first-pass investment assessments and build shortlists of the most compelling opportunities.

  • Due Diligence & Investment Analysis: Support live investment processes by conducting market, product, customer, competitor, and financial diligence. Contribute to investment memos and materials used in internal decision-making.

  • Market & Thematic Research: Support focused research sprints and deep dives into Atomico’s core investment themes. Analyse market size, growth dynamics, emerging trends, value chains, and competitive landscapes.

  • Portfolio & Platform Support: Support the investment team in working with portfolio companies on strategic, financial, and operational topics. Assist with monitoring progress against key milestones and organising Atomico ecosystem initiatives.

CANDIDATE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

We’re looking for intellectually curious, highly driven individuals who combine analytical rigour with sound judgment and humility.

  • Excellent analytical skills (both qualitative and quantitative) and comfort working with data, uncertainty, and incomplete information.
  • Outstanding writing and communication skills — able to structure complex topics into clear, compelling insights.
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills; experience building financial models and investment materials is a plus.
  • High research aptitude and the ability to rapidly develop expertise across new industries and technologies.
  • A self-starter mindset: able to operate with limited direction, manage multiple workstreams, and deliver at a very high bar.
  • Professionalism, discretion, and maturity when representing Atomico with founders and external partners.
  • A strong academic record from a top-tier university (Bachelor’s or Master’s), ideally in business, economics, engineering, science, or a related field.

Bonus points if you have:

  • A technical background or strong intuition for technology products, particularly AI / ML.

  • Prior experience in venture capital, private equity, consulting, banking, or high-growth tech startups.

  • German language skills are a plus.
