Head of AI

Responsibilities

• AI Strategy & Roadmap: Set the AI strategy and roadmap for Atomicwork’s AI platform and experimental projects. Ensure that AI initiatives support the company’s business objectives and long-term vision.

• AI Agent Development: Lead the development and deployment of AI agents that automate IT support tasks. Oversee end-to-end implementation fromresearch prototypes to production-ready systems.

• Leadership & Team Management: Provide hands-on technical leadership and mentor team members. Manage a small AI/ML team (3-4 people), fostering growth and ensuring effective collaboration (including with our India-based engineers).

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the CEO (based in the US) and CTO to integrate AI solutions with product development. Collaborate with other departments (Product, Engineering, Support) to align AI projects with customer needs.

• Customer Interaction: Interface with customers to understand their AI needs and pain points. Lead discussions on AI-driven solutions and gather feedback to inform the product roadmap.

• External Representation: Represent Atomicwork at conferences, industry events, and investor meetings. Clearly communicate our AI vision, capabilities, and successes to external stakeholders.

• Research & Innovation: Oversee AI research and development efforts, staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI (LLMs, reinforcement learning, multimodal models, etc.). Drive innovation through experiments and pilot projects on our platform.

• Scalable Deployment: Ensure scalable and efficient deployment of AI agents in production environments. Establish best practices for model training,optimization, monitoring, and continuous improvement in a cloud environment.

 

Requirements

• Experience: 8+ years of experience in AI, applied machine learning, or related fields, with at least 3+ years focused on AI-driven automation. A proven track record of building and deploying AI solutions in production.

• LLM & Agent Expertise: Demonstrated experience fine-tuning large language models (LLMs) and building intelligent agents. Familiarity with prompt engineering, model optimization, and using AI agents for task automation.

• Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with reinforcement learning, multimodal AI, and distributed AI systems. Strong programming skills in Python and deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow). Experience working with big data pipelines, real-time streaming data, and cloud infrastructure(AWS or similar).

• Domain Knowledge: Prior experience in automation, enterprise software, or AI platforms is highly desirable. Understanding of IT service management (ITSM) processes and tools is a plus.

• Leadership: Ability to function as a strong individual contributor and as a team leader. Proven leadership capabilities to mentor engineers and manage a small team, driving projects from concept to completion.

• Communication: Excellent communication and presentation skills.Comfortable engaging with customers to discuss technical solutions,interacting with investors, and speaking at industry events or conferences.
  
  
• Collaboration: A team player who can work effectively across time zones and cultures. Willingness to collaborate closely with an engineering team based in India.
  
  
• Location & Travel: Willingness to work from our Bayarea office. Ability to travel occasionally to the US East Coast and to India (approximately once per year) for team meet-ups, customer visits, or events.
