POSITION SUMMARY:

The AtriCure Legal Affairs Team provides responsive, practical, solution-oriented legal support to all departments and entities within this global, US-headquartered company. The team manages a broad range of matters, including transactional work, employment, corporate governance, litigation, and strategic initiatives. Under the supervision of the Deputy General Counsel, the Associate General Counsel advises and supports internal, international clients; drafts and negotiates a broad range of agreements; handles and helps manage complex legal matters; leads cross-functional projects; develops policies and procedures; and monitors emerging legislation and legal developments applicable to the company. The ideal candidate must be agile, responsive, solution-oriented and able to work effectively with a wide range of departments and personnel, both within and outside the company.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

  • Responsible for contracting for AtriCure’s international subsidiaries, including, but not limited to, drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, agreements related to HCP engagement, and clinical trial agreements.
  • Advises the international Human Resources team on employment law matters throughout the EMEA and Asia Pacific regions.
  • Assists with managing employment-related claims and litigation, as assigned.
  • Manages legal support for day-to-day contracting needs, including template preparation and maintenance.
  • Counsels internal clients throughout the contract lifecycle, including negotiation, contract management, and compliance; directly negotiates and drafts contracts on behalf of business units, including, but not limited to, commercial, clinical, regulatory, scientific, and medical affairs.
  • Develops policies and procedures related to the Legal Affairs Team’s scope of work.
  • Counsels senior managers and executives on legal matters, including employment and regulatory issues, changes in law affecting their areas of responsibility, and the intersection of legal developments with company policies.
  • Stays current on laws and regulations applicable to AtriCure and assigned business groups.
  • Manages outside counsel assigned to internal projects.
  • May manage departmental personnel, including attorneys and support staff.
  • May provide broad legal support to a specific business organization or group.

 

ADDITIONAL ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Juris Doctor (or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
  • License to practice law.
  • Ten years of progressively responsible experience in a law firm or comparable corporate legal department.
  • Experience negotiating complex contracts related to healthcare, research, or grant work.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while exercising sound judgment.
  • Ability to prioritize and reprioritize duties, manage multiple tasks, and clearly communicate changes to affected stakeholders.
  • Confident, goal-oriented, self-motivated team player with a service-and-solution focused mindset and the ability to lead or follow as the situation requires.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft programs, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, learn quickly, and take on new challenges.
  • Ability to travel up to 30%.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in the medical device, pharmaceutical, clinical research, or related industries.
  • Experience advising on employment matters and managing employment-related litigation.
  • Experience advising on international expansion projects.

This role can be based in the UK, Germany or The Netherlands, close to international airports to facilitate travel.

Netherlands Pay Range

€160.000 - €175.000 EUR
