About the Role
As Director of Global Tax Strategy, you’ll define and lead Attentive’s tax strategy through rapid global expansion and IPO readiness. You’ll have broad ownership of income & indirect tax, transfer pricing, tax accounting (ASC 740) and advisory to the executive team - partnering closely with Finance, Legal, and Product to drive sustainable growth and tax efficiency. This role reports into the Controller with direct access to the CFO and broader leadership.

What You’ll Accomplish

  • Maintain our global tax structure and liaison with external consultants and internal stakeholders for international expansion.
  • Lead the maintenance and optimization of global transfer pricing policies, including documentation, intercompany agreements, and benchmarking studies.
  • Manage global indirect tax obligations (VAT, GST, and Sales Tax).
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of tax compliance and reporting for U.S. federal, state, local, and GAAP requirements by maintaining current knowledge of laws, regulations, accounting, and reporting standards, while advising management on essential considerations and needed actions.
  • Act as a strategic partner to assess the tax implications of business initiatives, such as new product offerings and market entries.
  • Drive tax initiatives that enable new business models and revenue streams, including product bundling, partnerships, and emerging tax issues.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of income tax returns (federal, state, and international), ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Manage the tax provision process and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards (e.g., ASC 740).
  • Partner with management to establish and implement Attentive’s short and long-term tax strategies.
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls over tax processes.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance tax efficiency and accuracy.
  • Lead all tax-related audits and inquiries from global tax authorities. Proactively identify and mitigate tax risks associated with a high-growth environment.
  • Lead tax risk strategy — proactively identify exposures and mitigation plans in a fast-growing multi-jurisdictional SaaS environment.
  • Manage and optimize relationships with third-party tax advisors and service providers worldwide.
  • Act as a trusted partner cross functionally across multiple corporate functions
  • Serve as a senior strategic advisor to the CFO, Board, and Audit Committee on tax policy and risk.

Your Expertise

A leader with a demonstrated track record of success and career progression. Experience optimizing relationships with external consultants from both a cost and strategic benefit perspective. Can demonstrate success in partnering cross functionally so the Tax function is relied on as a strategic voice to help guide Attentive through its future growth.

  • Desired Industry Experience: Experience within a successful high-growth SaaS Software company. An understanding of marketing software in a SaaS/telecom model is preferred. 
  • Tax Experience at Scale: Leadership experience within a successful and growing $200M+ company. 
  • Public Market / IPO Readiness: Public Market experience and/or experience helping guide a company through the initial public offering process or public market readiness.
  • High-Growth Experience: Experience and/or ability to work in a high growth and fast-paced environment; building and implementing scalable processes utilizing cutting edge technology, including AI.
  • System Experience: We strive to use best-in-class software to help our Tax function run as efficiently as possible. Our current technology stack includes: Netsuite, Zone Advanced Billing, Salesforce and Onesource Indirect Tax. Experience with these applications is a plus.
  • Strong Communicator & Presenter: Excels in written and visual communication and messaging. Ability to comfortably present complex concepts to team members and internal stakeholders in a simple and concise manner to drive alignment is critical.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to think about both the Tax implications of strategic choices and their impact on the overall business.

For US based applicants:

  • The US base salary range for this full-time position is $200,000 - $230,000 annually + equity + benefits
  • Our salary ranges are determined by role, level and location
  • This role is salaried non-exempt and eligible for overtime compensation
