Job Summary
-
The Senior Manufacturing Manager will lead the development, industrialization, and scale-up of manufacturing processes for SMT, system-level assembly, and silicon interposer fabrication supporting innovative datacenter hardware platforms.
This role is responsible for defining and implementing scalable, high-yield manufacturing processes, building operational capability, and ensuring rapid deployment at volume. The position requires hands-on expertise across wafer fabrication, assembly, and packaging, combined with strong program leadership, team management, and cross-functional collaboration with R&D, fabs, OSATs, and Contract Manufacturers (CMs).
Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing Process Development & Scale-Up
· Develop scalable manufacturing processes for SMT, PCB assembly, system-level assembly, and silicon interposers.
· Define manufacturability, testability, and reliability requirements early in product and process development.
· Ensure process flows, control strategies, and equipment utilization are optimized for high-volume production.
· Drive improvements in yield, defect reduction, cycle time, and process capability.
· Establish SPC, reliability qualification, and continuous improvement for all fabrication and assembly processes.
SMT & System-Level Assembly
· Lead manufacturing readiness and scale-up for SMT and PCB assembly, including fine-pitch, high-density, and mixed-technology boards.
· Develop assembly flows, line balancing, takt times, fixturing, and automation for system-level and sub-assembly production.
· Ensure seamless integration between SMT assemblies, mechanical components, and silicon-based subsystems.
· Qualify materials, tooling, and processes with internal teams and external CMs.
Silicon Interposer Fabrication
· Lead manufacturing readiness and scale-up for silicon interposer processes, including deep silicon etch, wafer handling, and defectivity control.
· Partner with fabs, OSATs, and equipment vendors to optimize interposer process flows and critical parameters.
· Establish process capability, yield monitoring, and continuous improvement programs for wafer-level processes.
Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
· Hire, build, and manage multidisciplinary manufacturing engineering teams.
· Set technical direction, performance expectations, and development plans for team members.
· Serve as the manufacturing interface with R&D, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and external partners.
· Influence CMs, fabs, and OSATs to meet schedule, cost, and quality targets.
· Contribute to long-term manufacturing strategy and capacity roadmaps.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Materials Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
· 10+ years in manufacturing engineering or operations, with experience scaling high-volume hardware production.
· 5+ years managing engineering teams.
· Strong experience in SMT, PCB assembly, system-level assembly, and silicon fabrication/interposers.
· Proven ability to execute complex manufacturing programs at speed and scale.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with hyperscale datacenter hardware platforms.
· Familiarity with advanced packaging, 2.5D/3D integration, or heterogeneous integration.
· Experience working with global CMs, fabs, and OSATs.
· Background in automation, test strategy, and factory scaling.
Key Competencies
· High-velocity execution and program leadership
· Development of scalable, manufacturable processes
· SMT and system-level assembly expertise
· Silicon interposer industrialization
· Team building and technical leadership
· CM, fab, and OSAT partnership management
· Yield, reliability, and cost optimization
