Job Summary:
Assists in construction inspection under general supervision. Knows and applies fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures in the construction field. Possesses general knowledge of related fields and areas of operation which affect, or are affected by construction inspection, including civil engineering and surveying.
Accountability and Duties:
- Attends various meetings as needed related to assigned construction projects
- Submit detailed documentation of daily construction activities
- Assist with coordination of required project acceptance testing
- Perform materials inspection and acceptance prior to installation
- Point out potential problems to the contractor and project engineer, and keep project engineer and supervisor informed of progress of project
- Perform specific installation tasks, field measurements and assigned duties
- Interpret and implement company and department mandated safety policies
- Responsible for job specific quality system tasks
- Submits extensive written reports and documentation
- Completes and files construction reports and logs daily
- Maintains a good relationship with clients, sub consultants, municipalities and contractors
- Assists with all CM activities Develops and improves the contract admin process
- Conducts on site observations and resolves construction admin problems
- Keeps supervisor informed of work load and any changes in project scope or additional services
- Provides an accurate accounting of time spent on projects with descriptions for each time entry on a weekly basis
Qualification Requirements:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience:
High school/GED, minimum of 2 + years experience in related field.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Valid driver’s license
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must be familiar with Public Works Standard Specifications
- Must be a good communicator
- Able to read plans and have a good understanding of project specifications
- Must have basic math skills to assist with measurements and computations of installed quantities
- Must have an ability to operate a level and have an understanding of cut and fills and elevations for grades
- Available to work nights and weekends to complete a project as necessary
- Ability to design/engineer moderately difficult engineering projects
- Demonstrated project management skills and multitasking are essential
- Ability to make independent decisions within a general framework
- Knowledge of industry related software
- Must be fluent in the English language
Physical Demands:
Must be able to read reports and use the computer. Must hear well enough to communicate with coworkers. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand/walk, climb/stoop/kneel, lift/pull/push, grasp/feel. Must be able to write, type, and use phone system. Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 125 pounds.

Pay Range
$40 - $65 USD
