The Opportunity
The Financial Due Diligence (FDD) team is part of Audax’ Strategic Resources Group (SRG), which partners with deal teams and portfolio company management to drive value creation. In addition to FDD, the SRG team includes Portfolio Support, Capital Markets, Legal and Business Development – together, these teams bring specialized expertise to diligence, deal execution, and portfolio company initiatives. FDD specifically provides independent financial insights to support informed investment decisions and prepare portfolio companies for long-term growth and eventual exit.
The Senior Associate, FDD will scope buy- and sell-side diligence procedures and provide proactive technical, commercial, and objective advice to deal teams. You will also help support and manage diligence service providers to enable consistent, responsive, and best-in-class execution while serving as a thought partner for portfolio company CFOs, controllers and FP&A leaders on financial reporting, technical accounting, and audit matters. This role will support the Flagship and Origins Funds.
Responsibilities
Diligence Execution and Review
- Scope, oversee and review buy- and sell-side financial diligence in partnership with the deal team, third-party service provider and target portfolio company
- Identify, assess and mitigate deal risks on an iterative basis through review of interim/final deliverables, seller’s QofE reports, and management meetings; prepare internal summaries for the Investment Committee
- Evaluate service provider’s proposed procedures and fee structure considering industry, deal size, target complexity and key risks
- Provide-deal specific insights (operational, management team, financial reporting, etc.) to the deal team and Portfolio Support teams (OCFO, OCIO and Generalists) based on diligence findings to support pre-close planning of Value Enablement, Protection and Creation initiatives.
- Ahead of any sell-side process, identify and advise on key diligence topics, engage third parties to support the process, and offer expert advice
Service Provider Management
- Manage and maintain relationships with financial diligence and audit providers through regular pipeline and issue tracking calls
- Track service provider fee reporting
Portfolio Company Support
- Serve as a thought partner to deal team and portfolio company CFOs, controllers and FP&A leaders on financial reporting, technical accounting, audit planning, and related matters
- Oversee diligence execution on add-on acquisitions and support management teams and deal teams during financial diligence
Firm-level Support
- Work with third parties to prepare and deliver internal training materials (e.g. for the Early Career group)
- Contribute to strategic projects and firm-level initiatives that shape SRG, influence strategy and evolve processes. Prior examples include development of new tools, investment committee reporting, deal team training, CFO summit content, and investor materials.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field. CPA required. MBA preferred
- Demonstrated strong knowledge of GAAP, Corporate Finance, and Financial Reporting
- 5+ years in accounting/finance, with at least 3 years in financial due diligence (with strong preference for experience serving private equity clients)
- Strong project management capabilities and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated business acumen and strategic thinking
- Well-developed leadership, interpersonal skills and communication skills; ability to influence and collaborate across teams and multiple levels of stakeholders
- Self-starter and entrepreneurial
For Massachusetts: The base salary range for this position is $160,000- $185,000. The base salary range represents the estimated low and high end for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation may vary and will be determined based on but not limited to, the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and Audax reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. An employee may also be eligible for annual discretionary incentive compensation based on performance.
