About the Role

We're seeking a Design Engineer, Web who will bridge the gap between aesthetic vision and technical execution for our marketing and brand initiatives. This role combines the creative sensibilities of a web designer with the technical prowess of a frontend engineer, enabling you to own projects from concept to code of high-impact web experiences. You’ll harness AI tools to design and build delightful experiences, and encourage you to share your experience with the community. 

As a Design Engineer, you'll be responsible for creating visually compelling, performance-optimized websites and landing pages that drive user engagement, conversion, and brand recognition. You'll work closely with Product, Marketing, and Growth teams to deliver exceptional digital experiences that resonate with our developer community. As a member of our design community, you’ll help steer the role of design within Augment and set a high bar for design within the company.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering

  • Use code to achieve boundary pushing visual design and storytelling to establish our brand as a leader for developer-focused marketing
  • Build scalable, high-performance web applications using modern frontend technologies (React, Next.js, JavaScript, CSS)
  • Implement responsive designs that work seamlessly across devices and browsers with pixel-perfect precision
  • Collaborate on A/B testing initiatives to continuously improve conversion funnels and user engagement

Design

  • Design and develop visually compelling, user-centric websites that align with our brand identity and marketing objectives
  • Develop and maintain design system and guides that scales design on all web-based touchpoints
  • Design web graphics, icons, and interactive elements that enhance usability and brand engagement
  • Prototype design explorations in code when traditional design tools aren't sufficient—especially for complex animations, interactions, and responsive behaviors

Collaboration

  • Work closely with growth and marketing teams to create landing pages for lead generation across multiple channels, design conversion-optimized experiences based on user behavior and analytics, and build reusable components that enable rapid campaign deployment
  • Collaborate with product designers and UX designers to ensure cohesive end-to-end user experiences, participate in design reviews, and incorporate brand design into digital product experiences

About You

Required Experience

  • 5+ years of professional web design and frontend development experience
  • Strong portfolio showcasing both design sensibilities and technical implementation skills
  • Proficiency in design tools (Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch) and ability to translate designs into production code
  • Expert-level knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern CSS frameworks (Tailwind CSS preferred)
  • Solid experience with React and Next.js or similar modern frontend frameworks
  • Deep understanding of responsive design, mobile-first principles, and progressive enhancement
  • SEO expertise including technical SEO, performance optimization, and search best practices

Relevant Skills

  • Experience with advanced CSS techniques, animations, and micro-interactions
  • Knowledge of JavaScript frameworks and libraries (Three.js, WebGL a plus)
  • Exceptional eye for design with strong aesthetic sensibilities and attention to detail
  • Experience with version control (Git) and modern development workflows

Annual Base Salary Range

$150,000 - $225,000 USD
